LLOYD HORACE CAREY, 89 DEATH NOTICE

Lloyd Horace Carey, born 2nd November, 1935 at the Tarpum Bay, Eleuthera to Roggie and Lillian Carey (nee Culmer).

He was baptized at 3 months old on 8th March, 1936 at the Methodist Church at Tarpum Bay, Eleuthera. He was raised in a strict home by Christian parents of the Methodist faith.

As a teenager he moved to Nassau to seek employment, the last being Bay Street Garage where he worked for many years until retirement. Of a quiet and unassuming nature, he was a man of few words, who worked hard to provide for his family. He loved family and lived for family.

Lloyd Horace will be remembered for his love of hard work, his strong will, determination and resilience. He died on Monday 2nd June at 89 years old. His next birthday in 5 months, he would have turned 90 years of age on 2nd November.

Special thanks are extended to his nieces Linda Sweeting and Ruth Knowles and his nephew David Pinder and to all those persons who showed compassion and sympathy in any way, whether by telephone call, WhatsApp messages, e-mail, cards, gifts of any kind and prayers. May God bless you all.

Lloyd Horace Carey was predeceased by his first wife, Ramona (nee Burrows), parents, Roggie and Lillian Carey, sisters, Romanda Knowles and Mrs. Sybil Carey, nephew, Eugene Knowles, children, Gary and Michael Carey and Craig Weech.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Carey; his children, Darlene Wiradihardja, Phillip Carey, Debra Swan, Rochelle, Brian and Patrice Carey and Sherrell Roach; nephew Reginald Knowles; nieces; Judy Higgs and Michelle Adderley; and a host of grands, great-grands and great-great-grandchildren; in-laws, Judith and Derek Elden of The Current, Eleuthera.

of Pandora Court, High Vista Drive, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday 14th June 2025 at Ebenezer Methodist Church, East Shirley Street. Officiating will be Rev’d. Milton Lightbourn assisted by other ministers of the Gospel. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Church Cemetery, East Shirley Street.
