OO often gospel musicians are exploited and not adequately compensated for their time, talent and efforts. This is why finding representation is one of the most important things any musician can do, according to music manager Maurice “DJ Godson” Fawkes. DJ Godson founded Godsent Muzic Managment more than a decade ago after seeing firsthand how unfair some artists are treated. “I saw so many gifted and anointed gospel artists out there singing to all type of events and then have to catch a ride home or borrow money after a full weekend of events. After noticing this I was like, this is not right,” he told Tribune Religion. “People are using these artists’ gifts but are not giving them any type of compensation for it. So, I prayed about it…I also noticed that a lot of artists would release new projects and then besides it playing in (radio) rotation, nothing else happens.” This is where GodSent Muzic Management comes in. After shutting down last year, the company has reactivated its services, he said, to help protect the interests of artists. “We have the difficult conversations for artists about compensation and other things. GodSent Muzic offers
“People are using these artists’ gifts but are not giving them any type of compensation for it." management, bookings, marketing, consultation on projects and event planning,” said DJ Godson. “Basically, we work closely with artists to help them meet their goals.” And while the music side of things is important, it is also crucial that entities booking artists understand that gospel work does not equate to free work, unless that was previously discussed or negotiated. “It is better for artists to have management for a sense
of direction, a second opinion, and for the manager to have those uncomfortable conversations with promoters. The truth is a music manager helps with all aspects of a music career, including music production, performance and promotion of the artists,” he said. Representation also means artists are presenting themselves as professionals who serious about the music business. “A manager will assists with booking tours and opening doors on major platforms. For instance, I took several of the GodSent artists to England to perform at a concert there and this opened many doors,” said DJ Godson. e are said to be killing ourselves with our eating habits, preventable diseases, stress and other lifestyle choices. Let us do some self-examination to determine where changes need to be made:

POPE’S RECIPE TO HEAL HIS PAINFUL KNEE? A SHOT OF TEQUILA By NICOLE WINFIELD Associated Press ROME (AP) — Doctors have prescribed a wheelchair, cane and physical therapy to help heal Pope Francis' bad knee. He has other ideas. According to a viral video of the pope at the end of a recent audience, Francis quipped that what he really needs for the pain is a shot of tequila. Francis was riding in the popemobile in St Peter’s Square when he stopped near a group of Mexican seminarians from the Legion of Christ who asked him in his native Spanish how his knee was doing. After he replied that it was “capricious,” they told Francis that they admired his ability to smile despite the pain, and that he was an example for future priests like themselves. “Do you know what I need for my knee?" Francis asked them from the popemobile. "Some tequila.” The seminarians laughed and promised to deliver a bottle to the Santa Marta hotel where Francis lives.
The 85-year-old Argentine pope has been suffering from strained ligaments in his right knee for months, and on doctors' orders, recently has been using a wheelchair and a cane to get around so he can let it heal. The limits on his mobility have spurred a predictable round of media speculation about his health and a future conclave, but a close collaborator recently said the pope is “better than ever” and is undergoing two hours of physiotherapy a day. “He’s in very good health and the same lucid reflection as always,” La Plata, Argentina Bishop Victor Manuel Fernandez tweeted May 14 after seeing the pope. “(There’s) a problem in one of his knees, but every day he has more than two hours of rehabilitation, which is producing results. For everything else, he’s better than ever.” Francis recently pulled out of a planned two-day trip to Lebanon next month, citing the knee problem, but the Vatican has confirmed he will travel to Congo and South Sudan, as well as Canada, in July.

A worship summit to unite the Body of Christ T

he group ASAPH – which stands for “Always sanctified, always praising Him” – will host a worship gathering and summit from May 27 -29 at the Myles Munroe Diplomat Center. The conference will include day sessions, an open worship experience, ministry seminars - on worship, technology and Leadership – a concert, a CROWN worship live recording and more. It promises to be a time of repentance, renewal and recalibration for the Body of Christ. Being held under the theme “Arise”, the event was inspired by Isaiah 60:1, which reads: “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.” The ASAPH team is hosting this summit because they believe when life throws its worst at you, focus on your higher calling: to magnify the Creator no matter what His creation may do. ASAPH originated with the Fine Arts Ministry of Bahamas Faith Ministries. It is part of the legacy of the ministry, specifically that of the late Dr Myles Munroe and Pastor Dr Mark Bethel – two men considered visionary leaders and true worshippers by their flock. Dr Bethel served as the Fine Arts Pastor of Bahamas Faith Ministries for many years, and while his approach may have differed over the years, the intent was always to create an arena for leaders to understand the importance of the presence of God and how to invite the Holy Spirit to lead each encounter. Vince McDonald, Jr, the Creative and Fine Arts Director at Bahamas Faith Ministries International and CROWN Worship
said the entire ASAPH weekend will be phenomenal, but there are a few highlights that will make it special, including an opening night that will begin with a time of consecration and praise. “We have three dynamic leaders, Minister Bernadette Turnquest, Pastor Angela Burrows and Dr Denzcil Rolle, who will lead in a session of exhortation. It is our prayer that this night (Friday) will set the tone for the rest of the weekend as it would be a time of repentance, renewal and recalibration for the body of Christ. Secondly, on Saturday we will offer training sessions for all worship participants dance, song, drama and media which is new to this year’s ASAPH,” said Mr McDonald. “During the pandemic, churches were challenged to move to digital media to reach their congregations. Digital nmedia is now vital to our new normal and we hope to connect the participants with technologies they can leverage to make the work of ministry more efficient. Thirdly, on Sunday evening there will be a free concert during which we will be doing a live recording for CROWN Worship. We are also excited to have our guest Billboard recording artist Casey J with us from Friday through to the concert on Sunday evening.” During the Saturday morning worship summit, there will be general and breakout sessions with some of the community’s leading voices in worship, dance, drama and media; personalities
like Sherwin Gardner, Pastor Mario Moxey, International Worship Leader Casey J, and others. Then on Sunday evening, the climax will include the special live recording featuring Sherwin Gardner, Casey J, Karrington McKenzie, CJay Rolle and others. All evening sessions are free. “We hope that this would usher in a revival within the Body of Christ. Our opening night will begin with a time of repentance and then praise. We are reminded in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that if we humble ourselves and pray, turn from our evil ways, then God will hear from heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land,” said Mr McDonald. “Our world needs love and healing, and as representatives of the Tribe of Judah, we are at the forefront in the battle. Once we are in right standing, we can usher others into the presence of God. The entire weekend will be dynamic, but our heart ‘s desire is for leaders and

He said scripture shows that unity is key for effective ministry. “We aren’t competing with one another. We may sing differently or prefer different songs, but at the end of the day we
are all singing to an audience of one. We will continue building relationships and providing recourses and tools for all those that attend with monthly worship catherings called ‘ASAPH Nights’, which are expected to be nothing short of amazing,” said Mr McDonald.
