EDISON Sumner and Voices of Praise (VoP) are set to host their highly anticipated Annual Good Friday Concert, expected to lift the hearts of all those in attendance.
The free concert will be held on April 18 at New Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Blue Hill Road South beginning at 7pm.
The general public is invited to come out and enjoy an uplifting evening of gospel music and heartfelt worship.
The concert will feature an amazing line-up of some of the best voices in Bahamian gospel including Kenyatta Taylor, Adrian Edgecombe, Eman, Davian Chase, Antonio J Thompson, Terez Davis,
Joinae Gibson, Vanderson Barnett, and Colyn Kristopher.
As part of the evening’s programme, VoP will be performing some of their all-time favorite selections by the group’s most-loved gospel artists, in addition to some of their own iconic songs.
One of the evening’s highlights will be a special performance of “Marvelous”, their recent hit single which earned them the 2025 Elevation Award for Gospel Song of the Year.
This year’s concert holds extra significance as the group celebrates the 30th Anniversary of their Marlin Award-winning classic, “If I Knew Then”, written by Adrian Edgecombe and A’Yanna Cartwright. Speaking on the milestone, Edison Sumner, founder and lead vocalist of VoP, shared:
“This is more than just a concert — it’s a celebration of legacy, faith, and the power of Gospel music to uplift hearts and change lives. We’re honored to celebrate 30 years of ‘If I Knew Then’, and we invite everyone to come out and praise with us.”
Whether you’re a longtime fan of Bahamian gospel or new to the scene, organisers promise this year’s event will be an unforgettable night of music, ministry, and praise.
“The entire community is encouraged to attend and bring friends and family to experience the anointed sounds of VoP and their special guests. Come and enjoy a night of powerful Praise and Worship — it’s an experience you don’t want to miss,” he said.

IT IS not your typical solemn Holy Week gathering. When the doors of Southland Cathedral Global Ministries swing open next Thursday, April 17 and 18, what awaits is not a mournful retelling of Christ’s crucifixion but a powerful celebration of His victory.
The two-day “Journey to the Cross” revival on Soldier Road West is a spirited, faith-filled experience designed to stir hearts, uplift souls and declare boldly that Jesus lives.
“While it is traditional for most churches to ingeminate the journey of Jesus’ arduous sufferings by way of the seven sayings, we at SCGM are cognizant of the full story of the salvific event. Hence we are not mournful or doleful, but rather, we consider this an opportunity to celebrate the life, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” explained Cara Newton, one of the organisers.
This year’s theme, “Live Again”, aims to awaken believers to the enduring power of the resurrection and what it means for their personal walk of faith. Ms Newton emphasised that attendees can expect an atmosphere charged with miracles, healings, signs and wonders.
“Senior pastor Apostle Elect Devard Francis always endeavors to give attendees the best possible spiritual uplifting experience. Attendees can expect a higher level of awareness. Our intercessory teams are already in focused prayer and fasting because we believe in moving as The Holy Spirit leads. Southland Music has grown significantly and so you can expect praise and worship to be on another level this year,” she shared.
Moreover, the line-up of featured guests is just as impactful. Pastor Tolan Morgan returns once again, a familiar voice whose past messages have deeply moved the congregation. Making his SCGM debut is Bishop Brandon Jacobs, described by Ms Newton as “globally dynamic and present voice in the gospel arena”. Also joining the celebration is gospel powerhouse Lisa Page Brooks. “Lisa Page Brooks would have recently went viral, internationally with her ground breaking hit ‘Anybody Grateful’, however her decadeslong impact on gospel music as an anointed Psalmist with a unique vocal delivery made her a no-brainer as our choice for a guest psalmist,” said Ms Newton. Rounding out the roster is Kelontae Gavin, whose previous appearance left a lasting impression on the church family. “Our attendees expressed sentiments of wanting him to return so that they can experience his powerful ministry again, and we listened,” said Ms Newton.
‘You can expect praise and worship to be on another level this year.’
She believes the revival is not only a transformative spiritual encounter but also a meaningful contribution to the local Christian community.
PICTURED clockwise from top left, Pastor Tolan Morgan, Gospel artist Kelontae Gavin, Bishop Brandon Jacobs and Pastor Lisa Page Brooks.
“There’s always a need for more Kingdom-focused and faith-based events locally. We’re always happy to provide Christians with a safe space to worship and grow in faith. Journey to the Cross, being a different take on the usual Holy Week services we’ve all grown to love and cherish, offers persons the opportunity to reflect on Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice, but also to recognise that because of His sacrifice, we’re able to have dead situations resurrected as well; we’re able through Him to live again, and that’s a reason to celebrate,” said Ms Newton.
The event is free and open to the public. Ms Newton
is encouraging ministries, groups and creatives across Nassau to attend.
“We’ve made it easy for other Ministries and persons to participate. Simply come, praise, worship and celebrate the King with us,” she said, noting that large groups can call the church office at (242)-341-5900 for assistance.
“Jesus has conquered death, hell and the grave and for this we have every reason to let the praises of our God in the air as He has interchange our tears on Friday into approbation on Sunday morning, hallelujah,” said Ms Newton.
