GLORY SEEKERS TO HOST LIVE ALBUM RECORDING By JEFFARAH GIBSON Tribune Features Writer jgibson@tribunemedia.net

T

MINISTER TANYA DUNCOMBE

PROPHET DON CLARKE

HE musical group Glory Seekers is inviting gospel enthusiasts to join them for a special live recording event of their new album. “Grace – The Live Experience” will be held tomorrow at Agape Church in Golden Palm Estates off Malcolm Road at 8.30pm. It will also feature prayer, worship and celebration. Joining the group will be special guests Minister Tanya Duncombe, Prophet Don Clarke and Minister Sherika Brown, along with gospel artists Oslien Jadorte, Stermon, Leandria Smith and De'Vaughn Rolle. There will be a total of eight tracks recorded live; all of which were written and composed by members of the group. “The live recording will capture all the magical moments that may be lost on a studio recording. The intricacies of interacting in the moment at a live recording creates an experience that cannot be duplicated. Attendees are able to feel that they are actually a part of it,” said Minister Charles Smith, Jr. The group opted to record the album live because they said the energy and thrill will be unmatched. “There's something peculiar about when a group of persons comes together to worship in spirit and in truth; the experience is second to none and we would have it no other way. Moreover, the team recognised the need to facilitate a space for other upcoming artists to be inspired by what we are doing.

THE GLORY SEEKERS The truth is, we hope that by seeing what we will accomplish, they'd be motivated to pursue their musical dreams and aspirations,” he said. Glory Seekers Experiences is an multi-faceted Christian organisation with a mandate to restore the culture of prayer and true worship with the intent of awakening a God-seeking generation Formed in October 2018 by Mr Smith, the organisation aims to host dynamic, modern, reforming and exciting spiritual events that attract the attention of people of all ages. Though considered "new age" in its approach, the organisation has always made an effort to stay true to "old school" Christian principles. The worship team arm of Glory Seekers is comprised of members from different denominations. They have sung for international recording artists such as Benita Jones, Lena Byrd-Miles, Trisha Green and a host of local gospel artists and musicians.

In 2020, they released their debut single, "I Surrender". Recently, the team released its second single, "You Reign”, which is available on all digital streaming platforms. What makes Glory Seekers as a unique singing ensemble, said Minister Smith, is its distinct sound and harmonies. “Its unique mesh of contemporary and traditional musicality has set the group apart…The sound is piercing, yet soothing; smooth, yet powerful. With Glory Seekers, you are sure to experience old school traditional gospel with a new school modern flair,” he said. “We can promise attendees an experience like no other. When the wave of excitement hits, it will flow through your entire body and fill you with a positive energy and high spirits that will inevitably touch you to the core. As we know, music is the medicine of the mind. Come out and experience a sense of togetherness and mood boost with the unique experience that is grace.”

A positive approach to Lent By CARA HUNT Tribune Features Writer cbrennen@tribunemedia.net

O

n the Christian calendar, Lent marks the 40-day period right before Easter, commemorating the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the desert, according to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, before beginning His public ministry, during which He endured temptation by Satan. Traditionally, in the Catholic and Anglican traditions, people choose something to give up

during this time – symbolic of the temptations that Jesus faced. In recent years, many Catholics and Anglicans have also taken up a positive action as part of their reflections during this season. Here are a few ways to add positive experiences to your Lenten preparations. For many people Lent is a great time to consider their own personal health. After all, Christians believe that their bodies are in fact the temple of the Lord. While many people fast at least once a week during Lent, it is also a good time to focus on

eating healthy in general, which means eating more fruits and vegetables, drinking more water and upping your daily exercise. Also, consider getting that long overdue physical checkup. Remember, mental health is equally important, so ensure that you get adequate sleep and remove negative energy from your life. Lent is a time to draw closer to God as you prepare to observe the most important event of the Christian calendar: Easter Sunday. Therefore, make sure that you participate in the special

The Anglican Church Men prepare to celebrate the Feast of St Joseph ON Saturday, March 19, at 6.30pm, Christ Church Cathedral on George Street will be filled with Anglican Church Men of the Diocese of the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands as they gather for a special service on the Feast Day of St Joseph. St Joseph is the patron saint of the ACM. Like St Joseph, the members of the ACM are reminded to carry the characteristics of leadership, righteousness, obedience, and a sense of responsibility while being arduous in response to God’s call for intentional discipleship. During this mass, the ACM will honour its 17 past council presidents that have been at the helm of this organisation over the past 50 years. Additionally, the Reginald Grant Comrade of the Year and Richard Gibbs Branch of the Year Awards will be presented. The ACM as an organisation continues to grow from strength to strength and on the shoulders of its past leaders. The role of the council president is to provide strategic leadership, mentorship and overall direction of the organisation. From 1972 to present, the organization has peacefully transitioned, and has provided support to thousands of men throughout the Diocese. To this end, the Council and ACM at large thought it

fitting to honour the leaders of the ACM for being instrumental in the development of the organisation. These leaders, like St Joseph stepped in, and provided support, leadership and direction. The honorees include: Roger Simmons, Everette Z Mackey, Kurth Wallace, Kevin K Ryan, and Dwight Gibson. Additionally, the following past council presidents are being recognised post-humously: Reuben Gomez, Harold Cole, Preston Hanna, Clyde Bethel, Warren Pinder, Alton Wallace, David Clarke, Christopher Francis, Reginald Whylly, Edwin Strachan, Bismark Coakley, and Herbert B Scott. Family members of the honorees are invited to participate in the service, as the ACM pause to celebrate their tremendous contributions to the ACM, church and nation. Bishop Laish Boyd, will deliver the sermon for the mass on the Feast of St Joseph. The Son’s of Thunder will also perform the theme song for the upcoming 48th conference. Those wishing to participated in the service, should email sambmachine@ gmail.com with your name and the honoree you are supporting by Saturday at 12noon.

services held during Lent such as your church’s Lenten Mission and Stations of the Cross. While the pandemic may have caused many to attend church less frequently, this is a great time to get back in the habit of attending mass on a more regular basis. Another great way to draw closer to God is to read your Bible daily, pray and have a regular period of devotion, whether it be solo, as a couple or as a family. Drawing closer to family and friends will also help you draw closer to God, so consider

making a concerted effort to reach out to family and friends who you may have not seen or talked to in a while; just to check up on them. Additionally, see what you can do to help someone else in need, whether it be running an errand for them or donating to a special charity. Perhaps you can also volunteer at church or at another organisation. Consider a Lenten family project where you do something special for another family member who may be in need.
