MOTHER CHARGED WITH CHILD ABUSE GRANTED BAIL

A 29-YEAR-OLD mother was granted bail yesterday after she was charged with the alleged abuse of her two children last Sunday. The woman, whose name is being withheld to protect the identity of her children, stood before Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux on two counts of cruelty to children.

Police said two masked gunmen in dark clothing entered the business and robbed the place, leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle driven by a woman, heading east.

Police are also looking for three masked gunmen who reportedly robbed a man while he was leaving his home in the area of Carmichael Road.

Around 5.30am on Tuesday, the victim was accosted by three tall, slim built men as he tried to get into his car. The men were armed with guns and mace, police said.

The victim was sprayed with mace, robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash and other personal items before the assailants fled the area.

In other crime news, police in Exuma are investigating a hit-and-run that left a man dead on Tuesday. Around 7pm, a man was hit by a vehicle in the vicinity of Georgetown that failed to remain on the scene. He received significant trauma to his upper torso and head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
