ThisyearmarkedamajormilestoneforTLCaswetransitionedtoabrand-newlocationat1390PiccardDrive, Rockville,MD.ThismoveallowedustoexpandouroutpatientservicesandmakeroomatPiccardforsomeofour LowerSchoolstudentswhowillmoveoverfromTheKatherineThomasSchoolinthefall Unlikeourprevious spaceonGaitherRoad,whichwaslimitedtoasinglefloor,ournewhomespanstwofloors,offeringaninviting environmentanddedicatedspacesforarangeofservices
ThisrelocationofourOutpatientandAdministrativeServicesandOutcomesDepartmentwasasignificant undertaking,essentialforourfuturegrowth.However,themovepresentedsomeunanticipatedfinancial challenges,includingalossofservicerevenueduetodelayedoccupancyandadditionalmovingandconstruction costs.Despitethesesetbacks,thefinancialimpactwasmanageableanddidnotsignificantlyaffectthe organization’soverallfinancialhealth.Strongperformanceinotherareashelpedoffsetthesechallenges.Looking ahead,weareoptimisticthatthenewlocationwillenhanceoperationalefficiencies,ultimatelyimprovingservice delivery,andsupportingourlong-termgrowth.

WehadseveralopportunitiestoengageourStatelegislatorsatourtwolocations AsapartofNationalDisability EmploymentAwarenessMonth,wewerehonoredtowelcomeSenatorKagantoTLC,whereshemetwithDavidSchek, BoardmemberandfounderofWorkCompStaffingSolutions,andourOutcomesstaff David,whoemploysthreeof ourOutcomesparticipants,sharedvaluableinsightsintoinclusivehiring,andSenatorKaganhadtheopportunityto speakwithoneofhisemployeesabouttheirworkplaceexperiences.Wealsohadthepleasureofgivingheratourof ourfacilities.
Inaddition,DelegateFraser-HidalgovisitedthePoolesvilleDollarGeneralfor"TakeYourLegislatortoWorkDay," joiningVeronicaVasquez,ClaudiaLopez,andme,alongwiththestoremanagerandoneoftheindividualsweserve. Thisinitiativehelpsraiseawarenessandstrengthenadvocacyforindividualswithdisabilitiesbyengagingdirectlywith legislators Wewerealsothrilledtowelcomeseverallegislators,includingSenatorBrianFeldmanandDelegatesDavid Fraser-Hidalgo,LindaFoley,andLilyQi,toTheKatherineThomasSchool Thevisithighlightedthevitalroleof nonpublicspecialeducationschoolsandunderscoredtheimportanceofcontinuedinvestmentineducationfor studentswithdiverselearningneeds
Thisyear,inJune,wehadthejoyofcelebrating17graduatesfromTheKatherineThomasSchool(KTS) Theirheartfelt speechesreflectedtheincrediblejourneyofeachstudentandremindedusoftheimpactofourwork.Oursummer occupationalandspeechtherapyprogramwelcomed50childrenfor7weeksoflearningandfun.TheFamilyHearing CentercontinuedtoservetheAsburyResidentswithouronsitepresenceandothersinthecommunitywithservices andhearinglosssupportgroups.Werecentlyaddedanewservice,ToddlerAutismEvaluations,throughourTesting, Tutoring,andCounselingandSpeechDepartments.OurOutcomesParticipantsenjoyeddailycommunityactivities, includingworkingwithTheMaryland-NationalCapitalParkandPlanningCommissiontoremove1,000poundsoftrash insevenparks

2024 EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
2024 was another banner year for Development at TLC thanks to the generous participation of all of our donors. We are proud to provide an opportunity for everyone to participate in supporting our mission through volunteerism, attendance at events, and financial support that is honored and valued at any level. KTSPA Casino Night was held at Lakewood Country Club on April 12, 2024. Katherine Thomas School parents, family, friends and faculty enjoyed a fun evening of music, food and drinks, gaming, and fabulous prizes hosted by Auction Co-Chairs, Jessica Clear and Taylor Craig. A great time was had by nearly 100 guests, who raised funds to support The Katherine Thomas School.
33rd Golf Classic
On June 7, 2024, TLC hosted its 33rd Golf Classic at P.B. Dye Golf Club in Ijamsville, MD a fantastic (and windy) day of golf, food, awards, and camaraderie. Since its inception, this event has raised over $1.5M to support people with disabilities. Special thanks to our Golf Committee Guy Copperthite, Andre Jaundoo, Josh Phillips, and Fuad Sahouri fo t.

ANNUAL RAFFLE
This year’s Annual Raffle featured a 5-night luxury stay in St. Maarten, including a sunset cruise and other amenities and a generous travel voucher. Congratulations to Katie Baier who won the prize drawing on October 22.
FALL LUNCHEON
The final development event of 2024 was our Fall Luncheon hosted at Lakewood Country Club on November 7, honoring The Rotary Club of Rockville for its longterm support of TLC and The Katherine Thomas School. Many trustees, community partners, donors, and friends were on hand to enjoy a wonderful meal, honor the Rockville Rotary, and celebrate TLCs continued success in serving children and adults with disabilities.
