The Lantern Tour brings together art and advocacy to stand with families seeking safety at the U.S. border and the nightmare that has become their existence. From separating families to detaining them to making it harder for people to claim asylum, migrant and refugee families – including children – are under attack by the trump administration. the Women’s refugee Commission is at the front lines – at the border and in detention centers – to protect the rights and lives of women and children fleeing danger and crisis. the concerts will feature an evening of acoustic music by legends in the music industry that will allow us all to unite our voices in song and solidarity. Proceeds will go to benefit the Women’s Refugee Commission.
The Women’s Refugee Commission improves the lives and protects the rights of women, children and youth displaced by conflict and crisis. We research their needs, identify solutions and advocate for programs and policies to strengthen their resilience and drive change in humanitarian practice. since our founding in 1989, we have been a leading expert on the needs of refugee women and children, and the policies that can protect and empower them.
WrC advocates for the rights and protections of women and girls, including families seeking safety at the U.s. border. We’re committed to ending family separation and detention and to advancing the human rights of asylum seeking women and children. WrC believes that all humans have basic human rights and that, for families at the southern border, those rights are being violated. Emmylou Harris | A 14-time Grammy winner and Billboard Century Award recipient, emmylou Harris’ contribution as a singer and songwriter spans 40 years. she has recorded more than 25 albums and has lent her talents to countless fellow artists’ recordings. In recognition of her remarkable career, Harris was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008 and earned a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award in 2018.
Harris is known as much for her eloquently straightforward songwriting as for her incomparably expressive singing. Admired through her career for her talent as an artist and song connoisseur, Harris shook up country radio in the 1970s, and established herself as the premier songwriter of a generation selling more than 15 million records and garnering 14 Grammy Awards, three CMA Awards, and four Americana Awards.

A longtime social activist, Harris has lent her voice to many causes. she has performed at Lilith Fair, helping promote feminism in music and organizing several benefit tours to support the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation. Harris is also an avid supporter of animal rights and is actively involved in Bonaparte’s retreat, the dog rescue organization that she founded.
Jackson Browne | Jackson Browne has written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music and has defined a genre of songwriting charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. He was honored with induction into the rock and roll Hall of Fame in 2004, and the songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2007. Jackson’s career began in the mid-60s in Los Angeles and Orange County folk clubs. except for a brief period in NYC in the late 1960s, he has always lived in southern California. His debut album came out on david Geffen’s Asylum records in 1972. since then, he has released fourteen studio albums and four collections of live performances. His new studio album, Standing In The Breach, is a collection of ten songs, at turns deeply personal and political, exploring love, hope, and defiance in the face of the advancing uncertainties of modern life. Beyond his music, Browne is known for his advocacy on behalf of the environment, human rights, and arts education. He’s a co-founder of the groups Musicians United for safe energy (MUse) and Nukefree.org.
The Mastersons | don’t bother asking the Mastersons where they’re from. Brooklyn, Austin, Los Angeles, terlingua; they’ve called each home in just the last few years alone. If you really want to get to know this husbandand-wife duo, the better question to ask is where they’re going. Perhaps more than any other band playing today, the Mastersons live on the road, perpetually in motion and always creating. Movement is their muse. On tour, in the unpredictable adventures and characters they cross, in the endless blur of skylines and rest stops and dressing rooms and hotels, that’s where they find their greatest inspiration, where they hone their art, and where they crafted their brilliant new album, Transient Lullaby

Patty Griffin | Patty Griffin is among the most consequential singer-songwriters of her generation, a quintessentially American artist whose wide-ranging canon incisively explores the intimate moments and universal emotions that bind us together. Over the course of two decades, the Grammy Award winner – and seven-time nominee – has crafted nine classic studio albums and two live collections, a remarkable body of work in progress that prompted the New York Times to hail her for “[writing] cameo-carved songs that create complete emotional portraits of specific people…(her) songs have independent lives that continue in your head when the music ends.”
Thao Nguyen | thao Nguyen is an American singersongwriter originally from Virginia and now based in san Francisco. she is the lead musician of the band thao & the Get down stay down, and has collaborated with Joanna Newsom and Andrew Bird. Outside of the band she has collaborated on projects with several artists including Merrill Garbus, the Portland Cello Project, and Mirah. Her music is influenced by folk, country, and hip hop.
David Pulkingham | david Pulkingham grew up traveling internationally, recording and performing music. Known for his abilities in numerous styles, he has been called on for many recording sessions whether it be Latin music or rock and roll. In december of 2012 he was asked to be the bandleader and guitarist for two shows with robert Plant and Patty Griffin, and went on to tour with Patty Griffin in 2013 in support of her new album release American Kid. In 2011 he released a solo instrumental album entitled David Pulkingham Plays Guitar. In 2012 he released a 5 song eP of originals called David Pulkingham Plays Guitar and Sings and in 2014 he released a third volume of David Pulkingham Plays Guitar, and will release a full album of originals. david currently tours with Patty Griffin and plays internationally under his own name.

TOUR THE HISTORIC TOWN HALL
Town Hall has played an integral part in the electrifying cultural fabric of New York City for more than 90 years. A group of suffragists’ fight for the 19th Amendment led them to build a meeting space to educate people on the important issues of the day. during its construction, the 19th Amendment was passed, and on January 12, 1921 the town Hall opened its doors and took on a double meaning: as a symbol of the victory sought by its founders, and as a spark for a new, more optimistic climate. In 1921, German composer richard strauss performed a series of concerts that cemented the Hall’s reputation as an ideal venue for musical performances. since, town Hall has been home to countless musical milestones: the Us debuts of strauss, and Isaac stern; Marian Anderson’s first New York recital; in 1945, dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker introduced bebop to the world; Bob dylan’s first major concert in ‘63; and much much more.
