History and Phylosophy Antonio Luxardo, Luca Cima and Massimo Angelotti, all of them coming from different professional experiences in the nautical field and sharing the same passion for the sea and yachting, founded Pro Ship in 1998 which has gained, over several years of work, skills related to yacht design and has so far developed 250 projects, both for big ships and small boats. Inspired by the many experiences in the shipbuilding field, where the mode of approaching to the various issues and managing the stages of processing have got industrial characteristics, the three Pro Ship partners wanted to create a company which was able to satisfy in a functional and complete way all the exigences of their customers. In these last 10 years Pro Ship has multiplied the services offered and the activities and today is one of the few companies in Europe which can develop complete projects in house and this thanks to the professionalism and the high level of specialization of its 40 technicians, whose work is enhanced and encouraged by increasingly ambitious objectives.

Today more than ever in search of style and engineering of the product in order to satisfy the global market demand is increasingly important a multidisciplinary design team that is composed of professionals who came to nautical and naval design as a result of various training courses (aeronautical, aerospace, mechanical, nuclear, management engineers, marketing experts, trend hunter transportation and fashion designers) because it is through the contamination of the thoughts that you can innovate, a very rare word in the nautical field, which is normally based on highly conservative standards.

The real value added to yacht design is expressed through a project team that works in complete synergy in a place that has got no barriers and allows the various actors to interact very closely for solving the various design issues; as well as to use a working method for us it is important a good organization of the working spaces in order to give the possibility to the professionals to cooperate and to exchange their ideas freely.

Our team is able to give complete answers to the design and style phase, through the search for new forms and materials, therefore, not a single designer, but a context in which many ideas can be fertilized each other to create an unique and original product. A depth study of the DNA of the shipyard or private clients allows the dematerialization of the ego and become close with the expectations and wishes of the commissioner.

Starting from the presentation of the “design criteria� identified through a study into the DNA of the brand, we can count on the creativity and imagination of our designers and we can establish the stylistic imprint and guidelines that will define the project, turning into images the desires and expectations of the customer, trying to overcome them.

Interior Design

Contemporary to the study of the exterior design, we can define the style of the furnishing, finishes and materials that characterize the interiors of the ship. The design sketches create a book that will be supported by a range of materials and surface finishes to show the client. At this stage we compare multiple disciplines which are oriented to the research and choice of materials, the optimization of spaces and building issues.

3D Modelling

Through tridimensional modelling we can reproduce forms established during the design and styling stage. With every detail and every form viewable from any angle you can express an opinion on global and final aspect which will take the boat. Many collateral activities will spread from this 3D model: renderings, development of surfaces, calculation of weights, power estimates, NC data etc.

Naval Architecture

From the most basic requirements of seakeeping and safety features to the smallest details of the propulsion system, this department provides the mostly unseen but critical work that ensures a yacht to perform optimally. We bring a wealth of experience and ability to every project, from new constructions to refits and everything in between to ensure safety and efficiency of the finished product.

FEA Analysis

We developed an ad-hoc method for naval structures in terms of time and resources used, intervening on the original draft to satisfy the requests of customization that the client requires the Shipyard. Using the FEA (Finite Elements Analysis) through a rational investigation of the tensional state, it ensures the structure sturdiness and therefore the approval of the project by the Classification Society.

CFD Analysis/Hydrodynamic

Our company utilizes advanced computational instruments that allow the study of the dynamics of a fluid, which may contain several physical phenomena (heat, vibration, acoustic radiation, cavitation etc.), using modern softwares CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). In particular, all our projects are supported by a continue research toward improving the performances and the behaviour in seaway of the hull and its appendages.

Structural Design/CAM

This is the phase of the work that leads to production. The use of special softwares allow us to create all the necessary documentation for the various production departments, from the technical and building drawings to the construction flows and the creation of cutting outputs for the numerical control machines (nesting). The control of all work is guaranteed by the fact that each part is developed in 3D, creating a complete virtual model that allow a full view of the structures to be produced and which is extremely important for all other design activities.

Systems/Piping

One of the most difficult and expensive tasks in yacht construction is to ensure the safe and efficient functioning of all machinery and auxiliary systems. Providing the yard with approved production drawings of the piping systems can alleviate this burden and lead to considerable cost savings. We also incorporate yacht standards into our drawings to ensure a smooth and harmonised building process.

Pro Ship Design System is a method for organizing the design and production sectors which allows to simplify all the aspects of production in order to optimize costs and generate value. Expert trend hunters examine the essence of the product and its relationship with the customer in order to understand the guidelines and trends of the market . Then, through highly specialized internal resources, we offer a detailed analysis of the production costs which can determine the cash flows relating to the construction progress and, consequently, to plan precisely the various deadlines for completing the order.
