For centuries, Carrara has been quarrying, selling and processing marble all over the world. MarmiCarrara is the epitome of such a great tradition: it quarries marble from the best-known marble fields, sells the product all over the world, with the help of its 60,000 sqmt warehouses, and has the marble processed by the local craftsmen, exporting it in the four corners of the world.

Tanti materiali sono stati sottoposti a prove fisico meccaniche da laboratori specializzati e di cui riportiamo, di seguito, i risultati in schede accuratamente dettagliate con tutte le caratteristiche.

Our exclusive materials come from different marble fields in Carrara, except the Red Rosso Collemandina marble that comes from Sassorosso, near Lucca. Lots of materials have undergone physical and mechanical tests in specialist laboratories, and the results and specifications are summed up below, in thoroughly detailed tables.

Litotipo a grana medio-fine di colore bianco con venature grigie più o meno scure, di spessore submillimetrico e ad andamento disomogeneo, e con venature grigie centimetriche associate ad opachi anche millimetrici. Il materiale è compatto e privo di porosità superficiali. Possono comparire minuti cristalli di pirite.

A medium-grained white-coloured lithotype with darkish grey veins that are submillimetric in thickness with an irregular orientation. Grey centimetric veins are present associated with opaque minerals that are up to millimetric in size. Minute crystals of pyrite may also occur.

A compact lithotype that resembles a breccia. This material is composed of white aphanitic clasts up to pluridecimetric in size with fine, faint, yellow-browncoloured veins immersed in a fine-grained lightish grey groundmass with brown veins in places. Rare surface porosity is apparent.

DESCRIZIONE MACROSCOPICA Litotipo compatto bianco perlaceo tendente al grigio chiaro a grana medio-fine, con abbondanti venature ad andamento subparallelo, sia rettilinee di colore grigio scuro, sia ad andamento suturato di colore grigio bruno. Si notano anche locali plaghe millimetriche sub-arrotondate. Non si apprezzano porosità superficiali.

Litotipo a grana fine, compatto, di aspetto brecciato costituito da clasti bianchi ad andamento sub-parallelo, di dimensione variabile da sub-centimetrica a pluricentimetrica nel qual caso essi possono presentare esili venature grigio chiare o brune. I clasti sono immersi in un cemento di colore grigio più o meno chiaro, e i bordi possono presentarsi più o meno delineati. Nel cemento è visibile una fitta trama di sottili vene bianche (frescume). Sono presenti rare porosità superficiali.

A fine-grained, compact lithotype with a breccia appearance composed of white clasts with a sub parallel orientation that range in size from subcentimetric to pluricentimetric (in which case fine light grey or brown veins can be observed). These are immersed in a lightish grey groundmass and the edges may be more or less distinct. There is also a close-knit pattern of fine white veins in the groundmass and scarce surface porosity.

Litotipo afanitico, compatto, dal colore d'insieme bianco tendente al grigio chiaro, con frequenti venature grigie di spessore micrometrico e ad andamento grossomodo perpendicolare. Sono frequenti plaghe e chiazze anche sub-centimetriche, sub-arrotondate, di colore grigio scuro. Rare le porosità superficiali.

A compact, aphanitic lithotype that is white verging on light grey in colour with frequent grey veins micrometric in thickness with a more or less perpendicular orientation. There are frequent dark grey subrounded patches and spots up to subcentimetric in size. Surface pores are scarce.

Litotipo afanitico, compatto dal colore d'insieme grigio.

L'aspetto "nuvolato" per la presenza di fiamme e plaghe più chiare su campo scuro. Il fondo è attraversato da abbondanti venature più o meno scure subcentimetriche ad andamento parallelo, localmente ravvicinate e anastomizzantesi a formare fasce sub centimetrici grigio scure. Sono presenti rare plaghe sub arrotondate plurimillimetriche anch'esse di colore grigio scuro. Il materiale è privo di porosità superficiali.

An aphanitic, compact dark grey lithotype with a cloudy appearance due to the presence of lighter-coloured flames and patches on a dark background. Abundant darkish veins occur that are submillimetric in size with a parallel orientation. These are very close to one another in places and anastomosed, forming dark grey sub centimetric bands. There are rare plurimillimetric sub rounded patches that are also dark grey in colour. The material has no surface porosity.

Fedele al suo autentico spirito seducente, il Café Royal ha riaperto nel cuore di Londra un hotel di lusso a cinque stelle. Lo studio David Chipperfield Architects, famoso in tutto il mondo per i suoi progetti radicali e sostenibili, ha creato un perfetto equilibrio tra lo stile del XXI secolo e le maestose sale storiche risalenti agli anni intorno al 1860 e al 1920, scrupolosamente restaurate in collaborazione con lo studio di architettura Donald Insall Associates, specializzato nel restauro di edifici storici. Le nuove eleganti camere e suite, create in stile contemporaneo, sono caratterizzate da una semplicità ricercata e rifinite con magnifici elementi classici in pietra e rame. True to its quintessentially seductive spirit, the Café Royal has reopened a luxury five-star hotel in the heart of London. David Chipperfield Architects, famous all over the world for their dramatic, sustainable projects, achieved a perfect balance between 21st century style and the imposing ancient halls dating back to 1860 and 1920, carefully restored in partnership with architectural firm Donald Insall Associates, specialising in the restoration of ancient buildings. The new elegant rooms and suites, designed in a contemporary style, stand out for their elegant minimalism and are finished off by great classic copper and stone features. The overall effect of the hotel’s 159 rooms and suites, such as the six “ancient” suites, which are redolent of Café Royal’s pristine glory, is peaceful, relaxing and distinctive.

Situato a Chino Hills, California, il BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir è un tradizionale luogo di culto indù.

Dopo sei anni di inflessibile dedizione e migliaia di ore di lavoro è stato innaugurato il 23 dicembre 2012.

Costruito da 35.000 pezzi meticolosamente intagliati da artigiani italiani e indiani con Marmo di Carrara e arenaria rosa, il BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir a Chino Hills, comprende cinque pinnacoli, due grandi cupole, quattro balconi, 122 pilastri e 129 archi. Dalle pareti e le cupole delle colonne e soffitti interni esterni, il Mandir è completamente inciso con intricate incisioni in marmo e pietra arenaria. I 6600 motivi intagliati a mano rappresentano un mosaico di racconti ispirati alla devozione e la dedizione ed ai personaggi storici dell'induismo.

Standing on Chino Hills, California, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a traditional place of Hindu worship. After six years of unshakeable dedication and thousands of hours of work, it was unveiled on December 23rd, 2012.

Composed of 35,000 pieces painstakingly engraved in Carrara marble and pink sandstone by Italian and Indian craftsmen, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Chino Hills, includes five spires, two large domes, four balconies, 122 pillars and 129 arches. From the walls and domes of the pillars to the interior and exterior ceilings, the Mandir is engraved all over with intricate marble and sandstone inlays. The 6,600 hand-cut motifs look like a mosaic of tales inspired by devotion and dedication and by the historical characters of Hinduism.
