REUSE WATER

Who doesn’t love a beautiful green lawn and healthy landscaping and who didn’t like their water bill during this past very hot summer?

Well we may have a solution for some of you that have the availability of “reuse water” at your address. I have learned through my real estate transactions in the neighborhood that so many are not familiar with the availability of reuse water in the Town of Braselton and thus wanted to write an article that hopefully you will find useful and maybe save you some money in the long run.

I would like to thank Steve Payne, an engineer with the Town of Braselton and Elma Spahic, Utility Building Clerk with the Town of Braselton for all the information they graciously provided me.

What is reuse water – Reuse water is not potable water (it is not to be used for drinking or cooking) however it is a great option for irrigation purposes.

There is currently reuse water stored in the large water tower next to Del Webb at Chateau Elan.

What is the advantage of reuse water - There are two main cost related savings; 1. You are not charged for sewer treatment on any reuse water used, and 2. The per gallon cost of reuse vs potable water is significantly less. Currently, potable water cost range is $6.16-$7.35 per 1000 gals while reuse is a flat 1.10 per 1000 gals – a savings of +$5 per 1000 gals of reuse used.

Another big benefit of reuse versus potable which is not necessarily directly cost related is drought use restrictions don’t currently apply to reuse. So if our area is in a drought and potable water use is restricted for irrigation purposes, it can be rough on you landscape whereas if you have reuse you can use it during this time of most need to keep you landscape looking nice and healthy.

What locations within Chateau Elan currently have the option of reuse water?

The following streets currently have availability.

Other streets could certainly be added but there would be an additional cost to run the appropriate lines.

We do have some homes that are on septic tanks vs. public water, could they benefit from being on the reuse water plan?

Being on a septic system would not disqualify you from have reuse water. People on septic just don’t get the benefit of not paying sewer treatment cost.

The Town has a very reliable reuse system with adequate storage in an elevated tank just west of Chateau Elan that can support new customers – please encourage anyone who can to connect and if possible please help us expand our supply main within the development. There are numerous clubs that have been around for a very long time and many others have voiced interest in starting new groups/club. BALL POOL LEAGUE

The Kick-Off Party for the Chateau Elan Men’s 8 Ball Pool League was held at the Woodlands/Sarazen’s Pavilion - Monday, October 14th. Awards were also presented for the 2019 season, congratulations to all!

There are 2 specially named awards and for those that may be newer to the neighborhood. The Woody award was named after Woody Hebenstreit and is the Most Improved Player award. The Benny award was named after Ben Daniels and is the Highest Achievement award. Both of these guys have unfortunately passed away and the awards were named in their memory for the many memories & accomplishments they represent in our league.

There are 16 teams with 151 players for the upcoming season.

The league plays on Sunday night with a start time of 6 pm. This can be changed by the two opposing captains of course.

We had 13 official entries this year. All of them deserve a round of applause for their efforts and time that went into creating such wonderful displays for all of us to enjoy. Each winner was presented with a “Yard Sign” award and a $100 dollar gift card to Amazon from our sponsor Daniel Solly from Digital Logic Systems - www.prodls.com. Voting commenced with an evening golf cart caravan of 25+ families gathering at the Sport Club field and then driving through the neighborhood to view all the spooktacular displays. Many of the families decorated their golf carts to get in the spirit for Halloween Week and the children loved gathering with friends and voting on their favorite houses. Thank you to everyone that participated and made this event a huge success. We hope to have more entries and prizes for next year!
