Small, local businesses are the largest employer nationally and in our community provide the most jobs to residents. Some 85% of Greater Hall Chamber members are small businesses. Over 100 businesses recently joined the Chamber during the membership campaign, and most are small businesses.

Shopping online with out-of-state companies or in malls in neighboring counties does not contribute a penny to our local economy. I hope we'll all consider supporting our greatest resources: local customers and local small businesses. You'll find local businesses value, respect and appreciate your patronage. Several upcoming events promote our buy local campaign. Most recently, Main Street Gainesville sponsored the Annual Jingle Mingle, and the entire Downtown Square came alive with festivities and open houses. The Chamber's Buy Local Safe & Green Expo is scheduled for February 5th from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Gainesville Civic Center. The Expo will feature exhibits spotlighting dozens of businesses, products and services available here in Gainesville-Hall County. The Annual SAFE & GREEN Environmental, Health & Safety Forum will be held in conjunction with the Expo. The Greater Hall Chamber's 2014 Industry of the Year Awards were presented at the 6th Annual Industry Appreciation Luncheon in November. Sponsored by Lanier Technical College, the awards honor area existing industry leaders based on economic impact, workforce excellence and corporate responsibility. In 2013-2014, new and expanded businesses created 1,050 new jobs and generated $170 million in capital investment for Gainesville-Hall County.

With 17 employees in Hall County, the company recently renovated its building and added jobs. Aerocom is developing a special tube system for WalMart that will enable the transportation of prescriptions from their internal pharmacy to customer drive up lanes. CEO Jim Syfan and his two sons, Greg and Steve, founded the business in 2011 and now employ 176 people. In just three years, they have grown to annual revenue that took their previous companies 23 years to achieve. Increased sales and new products in 2014 created a 65% increase over 2013. The company is making a $21 million annual economic impact on Gainesville-Hall County. The company has constructed two plants, three manufacturing lines and invested over $100 million in Hall County. In 2015, the company expects to have over 600 employed. The company is a Partner in Education and maintains a close relationship with Lanier Technical College. Nearly 2,000 coaches and athletes spent some $500,000 in the community during their stay on lodging, food, and special events. Gainesville-Hall County will have an annual economic impact of over $233 million. KMA is purchasing 180 acres in Hall County’s new Gateway Industrial Centre and creating an additional 650 jobs over the next several years. Youth Leadership's Judicial Program included a tour of the Hall County Detention Center and the SWAT training facility with an overview by Lt. Bonner Burton. Following lunch at Brenau University, the class participated in a mock trial at the courthouse led by Mark Alexander, Stewart Melvin & Frost; John Breakfield, Breakfield & Associates and David Dickerson, Whelchel Dunlap Jarrard & Walker. The students heard from Superior Court Judge Jason Deal and Debbie Mott, Treatment Services, about the Hall County Family Treatment Court and the Drug Court systems. Amber Stowers spoke about her role as the Chief Assistant Solicitor General and Judge Lindsay Burton gave a presentation about the Foster Care system in Gainesville Hall County.
