Youth Leadership Hall

Leadership Hall 's Industry Day included a tour and a tasting of delicious sweet rolls hot out of the oven at King's Hawaiian bakery with special thanks to Terry Spicer.

The Chamber's Economic Development team of Tim Evans and Shelley Davis provided an in depth South Hall Industrial Park tour. Dr. Richard Oates with the University of North Georgia joined the class for lunch at Fish Tales Lakeside Grille to discuss Economic Development in Northeast Georgia. The team then traveled to ZF Industries for a tour and interactive activity on leadership with Brandon Loftus. Brian Daniel, Carroll Daniel Construction, discussed Downtown Gainesville development updates at Avocados Restaurant. Special thanks to program sponsors: Chickfil-A Gainesville West, Avocados Restaurant and Fish Tales Lakeside Grill.

Youth Leadership Hall student Jack Kennedy, Lakeview Academy, and Officer Derek Evatt. During the Judicial Day, the Gainesville Police Department set up a DUI detection scenario with Fatal Vision Goggles and a golf cart. The students also gained valuable insight into solving crimes in the crime lab as well as into the hidden dangers of technology with phone forensics. Judge John G. Breakfield was keynote speaker at lunch and inspired the students to reach for greatness. Hall County Sheriff's Office treated the students to a K9 demonstration and SWAT simulation as well as a tour of the jail. Major Chris Matthews spoke on the importance of serving your community in every way possible to make a difference for the future.

Judge Gregory explained the inner workings of Magistrate Court, and SSGT Greg D. Cochran closed out the day by inspiring the young leaders to pursue excellence in all of their future endeavors. Greater Hall Chamber 2018 Industry of the Year Awards The Greater Hall Chamber’s 2018 Industry of the Year Awards were presented at the 10th Annual Industry Appreciation Luncheon on November 13. Sponsored by Lanier Technical College, the awards program honors area existing industry leaders based on economic impact, workforce excellence and corporate responsibility. Gainesville-Hall County Economic Development Council 2018 year-to-date announcements include 17 new and expanded businesses in Gainesville-Hall County with 400 new jobs and $200 million in capital investment. Since 2013, 150 new and expanded businesses have announced 5,400 jobs and $1 billion in capital investment.
