The Greater Hall Chamber's Annual Buy Local Expo is Friday, February 22, 2013 and will highlight the products and services that business professionals can access right here in Gainesville-Hall County! As an added bonus, attendees will be able to attend up to eight seminars, enjoy local food and fare and attend the Annual SAFE & GREEN held in conjunction with the Expo for the first time! Exhibitor space and sponsorships are now available. The local logistics department maintains its own fleet, delivers 95 routes per week, and logs 2.25 million miles per year. Gainesville Ranks in Job Growth Garner Economics' September 2012 Progress Report: U.S. Metros Job Growth examines the pace of post-recession job growth among the nation's 372 metro areas and sees how they compare to the nation. Examining across the entire 23 months, the differences among metros is striking. Twenty-three metros have outpaced the nation in Employment Growth Rate in every month since September 2010, including Gainesville, Georgia, ranking 11th on the list.

Lester’s Body & Paint Shop began as a one-man operation in 1954. Donald P. “Red” Lester began the business at 604 Oak Street in Gainesville. He prepared the estimates and did all repairs and painting. His brother, Joe, operated Lester’s Radiator at the same location. The Body & Paint Shop's current location at 2118 Browns Bridge Road was built in 1972. Lester was told by friends and associates that the new location was too far out of town and would not succeed.

The current facility has expanded five times! Jack and Keith Lester took over ownership of the business since Donald’s retirement in 1974. Lester's has grown to 14 full time employees, serving Gainesville and Northeast Georgia for 50 years – thanks to the loyalty of customers through the years and their referrals.

By embracing the organic concept, a garden was created that they could harvest from and use during lunch without fear of chemical contamination, and products of the garden, where practical, are grown from heirloom and organic sources.

Michael Graham Gainesville Parks and Recreation leading a tour of Ivy Terrace and Rock Park Greenway, and a panel of local non-profit leaders facilitated by Phillippa Lewis Moss, Gainesville Community Center. The panel included Jessica Butler, Gateway Domestic Violence Center; Ann Nixon, Habitat for Humanity; Jessica Robinson, Hall County Grants Manager; Jackie Wallace, United Way of Hall County.

At Brenau University the class heard from Jim Hammond, Gainesville Theatre Alliance, and the Quinlan Visual Arts Center, where they heard from Doug Carter, former Quinlan president about local arts. The class enjoyed a private wine and cheese reception and viewed the Members’ Art Show. Many thanks to Randall Frost, Stewart Melvin & Frost, for hosting the lunch.

David Umberson Vice President of Finance and Human Resources

David Umberson has served the Chamber as Vice President of Finance and Administration since 2010. In that role he manages the facilities, human resources and finances for all four Chamber divisions. "Financially, the Chamber is run very conservatively while offering a great benefit for your member dollars," said David. "We always remember that we are operating on other people's money." Prior to joining the Chamber, David enjoyed a 28 year career in real estate and banking. He holds a degree in finance from Texas A&M University. He and his wife Elizabeth have lived and worked in Hall County since 1994. They have three adult children and are members of Gainesville First United Methodist Church.
