Ankle Biters Tennis

Ankle Biters Tennis (ABT) is now available in Windermere. ABT specializes in introducing tennis to children 10 and Under. We offer Wednesday classes for 6 and Under, 8 and Under and 10 and Under. Ankle Biters is focused on keeping tennis fun while staying on schedule with online classes, thus avoiding inclement weather and cancellations. These classes are designed for beginners and kids who have never played tennis.

Classes are Tuesday and Thursday 5-6:30 PM.

All reservations should be made on your phone at Kourts.com. This app allows you to make court reservations, as well as reserving your spot and paying online for Bobby’s drill sessions. Please ensure that your contact information on the association website (www.windermerecommunity. net) is updated to include email addresses and cell phone numbers, as this is required information to register for the Kourts app.

Cost to attend one time per week, per four week session is $80 and twice per week is $160.

We encourage you to download the app and sign up.

Classes are Tuesday and Thursday from 5:156:30 PM. Cost to attend one time per week, per four week session is $68 and twice per week is $136.

TENNIS NEWS SQUEEGEES & BATT TOWELS ARE HERE FOR YOUR RAINY-DAY RELIEF As the summerr weather is upon us, please remember there are multiple tools at our courts to help dry your courts. They each serve a specific purpose, so in order to extend the life of these tools, please use them accordingly. Upon arriving at your wet court, please use a roller or pull squeegee to spread out the large amounts of collected water. The BATT towels are to be used once the water has been dispersed to help dry the court in a more efficient manner.

ALTA & USTA SIGNS HAVE BEEN REMOVED All of the signs on our fences have been hanging for several years now and most have significantly faded in the sun. Therefore, to further enhance our courts’ curb appeal, the tennis committee decided to remove all ALTA, USTA, and other league signs.

If you would like to pick up any of the signs, please e-mail windermeretenniscmt@gmail.com. The signs will be available until September 1 before they are thrown away.

Windermere Is Now Offering Pickleball Drills Windermere is excited to be offering pickleball lessons for both beginner and intermediate players. We are even more excited that former director of tennis at Laurel Springs will be instructing the class. Tim Smith comes to us from Laurel Springs where he was the tennis director for 15 years. He is a USPPR certified professional with more than three years of pickleball coaching experience.

He was a 4.0 Men’s Doubles Gold Medalist at World Pickleball Championships in 2018 and is a USPPA Forsyth County Pickleball Ambassador. Most importantly he is jazzed about being a part of the Windermere Way. You can reach Coach Tim at timsmith7564@gmail.com or text him at 678-467-0504.

Beginner pickleball drills are held on Saturday 1011am. Come learn the basic rules of play, basic skills and the format of playing a game. Cost is $20 per session.

Intermediate pickleball drills are held on Wednesday 9am-10:30am. These sessions are for players who: 1. Have taken a series of beginner PB lessons OR 2. Know how to keep score and where to stand to start points OR 3. Play A or B level tennis.

KEEP YOUR DOG SAFE IN

Hot Weather

With Summer here and temperatures rising, we all need to be very aware of how the heat affects our dogs. The ASPCA, American Society For The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has some helpful and important tips to remember. And while they may sound like common sense, we need to be reminded again!

- Keep him very well hydrated with plenty of fresh, clean water.

- When temperatures are high, do not let him linger on hot asphalt or concrete. His paw pads can be very sensitive,.... which leads into the next very important tip or should be called a rule.

- DO NOT take him along for your “exercise run” !

- NEVER, EVER leave him alone in a parked car even for a few minutes. The temperature in your car can rise almost 20 degrees in just 10 minutes.

Even on a 70 degree day, it can become 110 degrees. If you see a pup in a car, please call 911.

- When it’s time to take a dip in the pool or lake, do not leave him unsupervised. Contrary to popular belief, not all dogs are good swimmers.

ASPCA says to introduce water gradually and always have them wear a flotation device on a boat.

In general, just be aware of overheating signs which include: -Excessive panting or difficulty breathing -Increased heat and respiratory rate -Drooling -Mild weakness, stupor or even collapse -Seizures -Blood, diarrhea and vomit -Elevated body temperature of over 104 degrees Please remember all of the above when venturing out on a hot Summer day. Our fur babies are precious, innocent and valuable!

POOL NEWS Residents please be aware, Lifeguards, Pool Manager and the Pool Management Company have FULL AUTHORITY to interpret pool rules and to enforce their compliance on behalf of the Windermere Homeowners Association, including requesting any person(s) to leave the pool area in the event of noncompliance with operating rules and procedures, or for any other cause, that in his or her judgment warrants such action.

These lifeguards are in their teens, watching your kids and keeping our pool safe and clean.

Amenities Access Cards / Pool Stickers Access cards with 2022 sticker must be used by residents for admittance to the pool area. 2022 stickers may be obtained in person at the Lodge by the adult homeowner or resident. No children, nannies, or other family members may obtain stickers. You are asked to read and familiarize yourself with the Pool Rules in the Pool Info Packet and bring the signed Acknowledgement form and your two access cards with you when you pick up your sticker. Amenities access cards are available to residents who are current on their HOA dues and fees.

The following procedure will be followed by all who wish to access the slide. The line to ride the slide will form on the pool deck at the bottom of the slide stairs. Only ONE person at a time is allowed on each stair platform (meaning one person is allowed on the top platform and ONE person is allowed on the middle platform). Parents accompanying their small children are the only exception.

Lap Pool / Lap Lane One lap lane is available at all times and is to be kept clear for lap swimmers. (Rule 1.H).

Swim Diapers & Covers Swim diapers and plastic pants that fit snuggly around the waist and legs are required for all persons age three and under and for those who are not toilet trained. Parents may be asked to verify that a child is wearing a swim diaper and plastic pants (Rule 1.E).

Rafts and Floats No rafts, inflatables, or propeller type devices are allowed in pools, as these can create a visual impediment for the lifeguards. To clarify, swim vests, noodles, arm floats, infant tubes and swim aids are the only flotation devices permitted (Rule 1.N).

The pool opens each day at 5:00 a.m. for residents to swim at your own risk. The pool closes each evening when lifeguards go off duty. Lifeguards-on-duty schedule is detailed on Page 4 of the Pool Information Packet.

Beginning May 31, practice schedule Monday-Friday 8:00 am-12:45 pm through July 1.

Pool Safety: ATTENTION ALL RESIDENTS!!

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL RESIDENTS: During May 9-13 ( prior to official pool opening) ONLY Swim Team members and parents or guardians may be admitted in pool area during schedule Swim Team practices. SWIM TEAM MEMBERS ONLY MAY USE THE LAP POOL during practice sessions. NO ONE IS ALLOWED IN THE MAIN POOL OR BABY POOL DURING MAY 9-13, OR UNTIL THE OFFICIAL OPENING ON May 14.

Please be aware that the Pool Rules are intended to ensure a safe environment for all residents. Also, understand that Lifeguards are primarily responsible for life safety. Parents are responsible for monitoring and supervising their children at all times, while in the water and on deck, and ensuring they observe the rules for their own safety as well as that of other residents. We ask that you give your utmost attention to this and your full understanding and cooperation to the Lifeguards. Please immediately bring to the attention of a Lifeguard or Pool Manager, any unsafe situation or behavior or infraction of Rules you observe taking place in the pool or pool area.

There may additional practices Monday-Friday from 8:0010:00 am through July21 for GRPA State Meets.

The Waves are hosting two swim meets on two Thursdays, June 2 and June 9. On these two dates only, the entire pool facility will be closed at 3:00 pm for the remainder of the day.

Comments and feedback regarding the pool are welcome at any time and should be directed to Seth Daugherty, Windermere Property Manager, at 678 455-7708, Ext 3 or seth.daugherty@fsresidential.com. We ask that specific complaints or problems be reported with full details to the Property Manager as soon as possible so that the problem or situation may be promptly addressed.

Water Slide Weak and non-swimmers are not permitted to use the slide, including all that use flotation devices, i.e., life vests). Also, buckles, metal, ornamental clothing or life jackets are not permitted on the slide (Rule 1.F.iii.c).

SWIM TEAM NEWS The Waves season is underway! Thank you to all who came out to support our team at the Waves spirit night last month and special thank you to Grandma’s NY Pizza for partnering with our team and giving back to the community.

The Waves will host 2 home meets this season. Concessions and Kona Ice are available for purchase during meets. Meets begin at 5:30pm - come out to cheer on our swimmers!

• Home Meet vs. Polo Golf & CC - Thursday, June 2nd • Home Meet vs. Fieldstone - Thursday, June 9th The Waves will also compete in 3 away meets at Creekstone, Three Chimneys and Chattahoochee River Club and will end the season on July 1st at the Forsyth County Championship Meet hosted at Georgia Tech. We focus on building stroke technique, team camaraderie and enjoyment for the sport. Swimmers will learn how to do all 4 strokes - freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly (freestyle and backstroke only for 6 & under age group). Swimmers will also enjoy fun activities such as treat days, “Fun Friday’s”, themed meets and swimmer of the week awards.

Join us for our 8th Annual Fireworks Celebration! This is our largest and most popular event here at Windermere! Arrive as early as 6pm to claim your seat! From 6pm-9pm we will have a DJ with activities, games, and more.

The Bubble Lady will also be back in attendance! The fireworks show will begin at dusk. Spectators will be able to watch in marked off areas in the pool and on the field. Seating is first come first serve. You may bring chairs and blankets to watch. No tents will be allowed.

Culvert Repair The culvert restoration project is finally completed, and the cart path is open!

We appreciate everyone’s patience the past few months while work was ongoing. We will be installing additional split rail fencing on each side of the road to ensure the safety of all residents while travelling over Daves Creek.

Windermere Trash and Recycle Service is provided by Red Oak Sanitation. Services are included in your yearly dues.

ARC REQUESTS

Does your home need some work?

Are you thinking about renovating? ...Not sure if your project needs approval?

Most projects that are performed to a home or lot require prior approval from the Association.

FOR A COMPLETE COPY OF THE ARC GUIDELINES PLEASE CLICK HERE. Section 1.01 Modifications Requiring Approval Every structure or thing which is placed, erected, or installed upon any Unit and all improvements or other work (including staking, clearing, excavation, grading, and other site work, exterior alterations of existing improvements, or planting or removal of landscaping) which takes place within Windermere, must be in compliance with the Declaration and the Architectural Guidelines. New construction or any change or modification that is visible from the outside of a residence is subject to these guidelines and the authority and approval of the ARC. Section 1.02 Submittals (a) Process A three-step process as follows: (i)Complete online Application for Modification form (ii) Gather required supporting documentation (iii) Submit Application and supporting documentation to the Property Manager – PLEASE NOTE THE DATE RECEIVED BY THE PROPERTY MANAGER MAY DIFFER FROM THE DATE PRINTED ON THE ONLINE APPLICATION FOR MODIFICATION FORM

(b) Fee for the process There are no fees for the standard review process for ARC Applications. However, per the Financial Policies and Procedures Applications to the Architectural Review Committee for changes, alterations, additions, or deletions to property by delinquent homeowners will not be considered until all obligations for that individual property are resolved.

Certain projects such as but not limited to, an addition to a residence, new construction and pool/courtyard

additions may require review from a licensed architect.

These types of projects shall be subject to additional review fees as determined by the Board or their designee. The property owner will receive notification of additional fees once an application has been submitted and all fees must be paid prior to starting the review process. Fees are payable via check or money order.

If you wish to expedite the standard review process for your ARC Application which would not require review by a licensed architect rush fees will be charged as follows: Approval in 2-4 Days once a complete form is submitted - $100 fee payable at the time of submission.

Approval in 5-7 Days once a completed from is submitted - $50 fee payable at the time of submission.

At the discretion of the Association Manager, certain projects may not be permitted to be rushed.

Applications may be submitted at any time, with an average processing time of 14 business days. Please plan ahead for all projects, including holiday and birthday gifts. Failure to receive prior approval for any and all projects is subject to sanctions for violation including unapproved modification fines starting at $200. Ensure all required documentation including but not limited to: (paint samples, roof shingles, plat/survey site, materials lists, renderings, etc.) are included with your application. Failure to provide the required documentation may result in the application not being accepted or delays in the processing time.
