Another breakthrough was achieved by Iloilo Science and Technology University as it marked its 7th Charter Day Celebration last May 18, 2022, with the theme, "ISAT U: Transforming Lives Through Science and Technology". Formerly known as Western Visayas College of Science and Technology, the implementation of Republic Act No. 10595 in 2015 signed by the late President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III converted the institution into a state university.

ISAT U President Dr. Raul F. Muyong and Vice President for Administration and Finance Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre Jr. spearheaded the ribbon cutting ceremony during the inauguration of the newly completed Administration Building.
On the other hand, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas congratulated the institution's achievements in upholding quality education. "I join the whole Iloilo Science and Technology University as you commemorate your 7th Charter Day. I acknowledged that ISAT U played a significant role in promoting quality education to science and technology and your contribution in transforming the lives of your student to become vital in promoting the whole Ilonggo community with globally competitive graduates and professionals who actively made impact in our society," said Mayor Treñas.
Dr. Muyong also delivered his State of the University Address (SUA) which emphasized various mandates and accomplishments of the institution amidst pandemic. He also commended everyone who became part of numerous success and encouraged every faculty and stakeholder to continuously deliver quality and effective education.

It was supposed to be a silent night for ISAT University students –finished final exams, requirements almost complied, and internships on progress – except that the cold dead night was broken by the piercing results of the June 2022 Architecture Licensure Exam (ALE) with a blaring news of the university’s first topnotcher, ‘
Marianne Kaye Ledesma Ofianga –Iloilo Science and Technology University – 82.40.’
With the semi-annual posting of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) of ALE results, social media and the commission’s website took a hit of the wave of netizens due to anticipation of knowing the country’s new architects on June 22, 2022.
Who is this Architect Ofianga anyway?
Ofianga, 24-year-old, resides at Ledesco City Homes, La Paz, Iloilo City and belongs to a family of three wherein her father, Jose Marlu, is an Electrical Engineer and her mother, Ann, is a housewife.
After completing her elementary and secondary education at Alphacrest Academy and Iloilo National High School – School for the Future respectively, she studied and graduated BS Architecture at Iloilo Science and Technology University with an Academic Merit Award in the year 2019.
“I waited 3 years before deciding to take the ALE in June 2022 because of the surge of the COVID19 pandemic last 2020,” said Ofianga.
Her preparation for the exam cost her effort to change her daily routine two months before so the review will be health-wise.
As a result of her smart strategy, Ofianga aced the exam with a rating of 82.40 percent becoming the June 2022 ALE s topnotcher, first to achieve in the university.
“I prayed and asked for guidance from the Lord,” she added when asked about her secret to achieving this feat.
In an interview, she stated that she prayed to pass the exam but
