National&Regional Leadership
ZetaPhiBetaSorority,Incorporatedwasfounded onJanuary16,1920onthecampusofHoward Universitybyfivetrailblazingcoeds.Sinceits inception,thesororityhaschronicledanumberof “firsts”amongtheestablishedblacksororities.In additiontobeingtheonlyorganization constitutionallyboundtoafraternity,thesorority wasthefirsttocharterinternationalchapters(in WestAfricaandGermany),toformadultand youthauxiliarygroups,andtoorganizeits internalaffairswithinacentraloffice, administeredbyapaidstaff.
RootedintheprinciplesofScholarship,Service, SisterhoodandFinerWomanhood,theworkwe dointhecommunityisextremelyimportantto us.Theseprinciplesaccuratelydescribeour beliefsandwayoflifeasmembersofZetaPhi BetaSorority,Incorporated.Weholdour foundingprinciplesclosetoourheartsandstrive toemulatethemineverythingwedo.
ZetaPhiBeta’spurposeistofostertheidealsof service,charity,scholarship,civicandcultural endeavors,sisterhood,andFinerWomanhood. ShaquilaMyersischiefofstafftoSpeakerJoeTate, speakeroftheMichiganHouse. Hercurrentroleisth yearcareerofpublicservicethatincludesservingasa to Governor Gretchen Whitmer and chief of staff to Lieutenant GovernorGarlinGilchristII.
AschiefofstafftotheSpeaker,Ms.Myershelpsdrivetheagendaof theHouseDemocraticmajority,includingthedevelopmentofpublic policyandthestatebudget.Sheoverseesallpartisanandnonpartisan staffandisthemosthighlyvisiblestaffpersonintheMichiganHouse.
Over the course of nearly two decades, Ms. Myers has crafted initiativesthatrangefromimprovingaccesstobroadbandacrossthe statetoreformingthecriminaljusticesystem. Asasenioradvisorin theWhitmeradministration,Ms.Myerslednegotiationeffortswith the legislature to secure a historic economic development funding package, which helped the state land the largest investment in GeneralMotor’shistory,yieldingnearly$7billionofinvestmentto createorretain5,000jobsinMichigan.
AnativeDetroiterandproudgraduateofDetroitPublicSchools,Ms. MyersservedaslegislativedirectorfortheSenateDemocraticCaucus from2015-2018. Priortothat,sheservedasapolicyadvisortothe caucus from 2008-2014, working on transportation, local government, health policy and other important issues facing the state. Ms.Myersiswell-respectedonbothsidesoftheaisleandhas workedoneveryaspectofthelegislativeprocess,fromresearchand development, bill drafting and providing testimony to negotiating amendmentsandsecuringbillpassage.
Beforeworkinginthelegislature,Ms.Myers’interestinpublicpolicy began through her work at HAVEN of Oakland County and as a volunteeratCommunityHealthAwarenessGroup,anorganization dedicatedtoreducingthetransmissionofHIV.Inhersparetime,Ms. Myershasbeenapartofnumerouscampaignsaroundthestatewhich hashelpedinformherperspectiveonstatepolitics.
Ms. Myers received her Bachelor of Health Science and Master of PublicAdministrationfromOaklandUniversity.Shecurrentlylivesin Mid-Michigan,wheresheenjoysgardeningandtraveling.

She has served uninterrupted for over a decade as an active financial member within the sisterhood including Great Lakes Region Domestic Violence Co-Coordinator, Local Youth Auxiliary Coordinator, Grammateus, Member of the MembershipIntakeProcessCommittee,FinerWomanhood CommitteeChairandhasparticipatedinahostofState Committees.
Professionally,TiaraisaUnitedStatesProbationOfficer intheWesternDistrictofMichigan.Inthispositionshe serves the court and community collaboratively by providing social control of persons under Federal supervision and providing them with meaningful opportunitiestochange.
