Maggie is a four year old, medium sized Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a long wavy coat of chestnut and white. She was surrendered to the shelter after being passed from one home to another. While in one of these homes, Maggie had an accident that left her unable to put weight on a hind leg. She was treated with pain pills and rest. Even though Maggie has a cheerful disposition and walks on leash, runs and hops, it was apparent that her injury was still a problem. Whenever possible, she only places the slightest pressure on the injured leg. An X-ray revealed a dislocated hip. If Maggie had been given the appropriate care at the time of the injury, it would have been possible to repair her hip joint. Now, six months later, that is no longer an option. Her surgery has been scheduled for this week. After a two week recovery Maggie will be available for adoption and ready to go home for good this time, pain free. Donations to help pay for her surgery will be gratefully accepted. She is a delightful little dog and deserves every chance we can give her. A litter of six shelter kittens are growing up in a foster home. They will be available for adoption soon. We also have two sets of triplets. If you have ever considered fostering for the shelter, now is the time. Kitten season runs from February to November. Market Place Foods in St. Croix Falls is offering shoppers the opportunity to support Arnell. Shoppers are able to donate by simply adding a Brown Bag of Shelter Wish List items to their shopping carts. The Wish List items are offered by Market Place Foods at wholesale prices, doubling your donation at the checkout stand. This Market Place Community based event is a major fundraiser for the shelter. It provides Arnell with items that keep our shelter clean, the animals fed and spoiled just a little bit. Add a Brown Bag of Shelter Wish List items to your shopping cart and thank the friendly folks at Market Place for us. Lucky Dogs, Lacey, Daisy and Dexter found loving homes last week, as did lucky cats Brando, Rooney and Oliver. We have only a few dogs available for adoption. Sparky is a Beagle Mix and Millie is a seven year old Black Lab mix. Our Adoptable Cat room is full. All cats are spayed or neutered and ready to go home. They are: Tulla, Jonas, Mallory, Charlotte, Marble, Tasha, Brandie and Rosemarie. Thank you to everyone who has supported Arnell. It means everything to be able to help animals in need; it’s why we are here.
