As you all know , last Friday there were three fraternity parties , S igma Nu , Delta Tau Delta , and Ch i Psi. CPT was crowed w ith people on the sidewalks , the street and , of course ,i nside the thr ee houses Saturday night , ther e was one party ( at Sigma Phi Epsilon ). As far asI know , there are no parties scheduled f or t his weekend (I could be wrong s ince I wrote this on Wednesday) Myquest ion i s , why don 't the houses get together and plan their parties on differen t nights? Each party would be more successful and better altended not to mention that it would prevent weekends like this one : where we 're all - going to go elsewhere to party. I was informed that there w ill beno more fraternity part ies scheduled on the same night as mixers. This seems like a really good idea for the success of both the mixer and the party So , how about it, IFC , why not try to break up the f raternity parties so that they are evenly spaced
Another suggestion popped up this week: having mixers or parties in NYC The social committee could rent a club (Studio 54 for example), some buses for everyone , and sell tickets in advance In NYC, most people are of legal drinking age ; the setup and music are conducive to dancing and lots offun Onth e oth er hand , you can 't exactly arrive and leave when you fe el like it What do you th ink?

In order to learn more about this organization , I read through Dean Tomk iew icz's copy of G&T's const itut ion. WhileI read , the word cl i que' kept popping upinmy bewildered mind Accord ing to the constitution, members (or prospect ive members) must display " an att itud e of fellowship " and must be " socially congenial. " And who decides whe ther someone is " socially congenial? " why the members of G& T, o f cours e. That sounds like a clique to me In other words , if you are friendly with the members of G&T, you 've got an ace in the hole Maybe t he Chairperson ofthe Honor Board the Editor of the STUTE and the Treasurer of STUCO had no aces to play
As for myself , I 'm not a member of G&T either. As most people could tell you , I far surpass the minimal req u irements for acceptance Unfortunately also snubbed last semest er after two G&T membe rs argued that Iwas not wo rthy ofth e organizati on sin ce my name was asso ciated withthe infam ous MORPHEUS co lumn.Th e const itut ion, however , stat es tha t " Memb e rshi p in any other s oc iety , frat e rnity o rassociations hall not d ebara c and i datefo r election th is s ocie ty ."
