Beats for Love in the Czech Republic is one we’re really looking forward to! The crowd there always brings insane energy, and the whole vibe of the festival is next level. Can’t wait to get out there and do our thing!

Oh, absolutely! We love getting amongst it. No disguises (yet), but we’ve had a fair few funny moments. One time, after a set, we tried to blend in and just enjoy the festival, but someone clocked us, and suddenly we had a whole crew following us around asking for backstage passes. Ended up making some new mates though, so all good!

LET’S DIVE STRAIGHT IN! TALK TO US ABOUT YOUR NEW EP, +55. THE TRACKS, THE PLANNING BEHIND IT…

My EP +55 talks about connection and disconnection. It’s about the real and the digital world, and it’s also about self-discovery. Each one of the songs represents a bit of my journey. The rst track is ‘Alô’, and it’s possibly the most connected to the EP’s name as +55 is Brazil’s country code for international calls, and the song’s repetitiveness plays with the idea of being on the phone and losing signal. The song talks about not having a bigger plan on where the night is gonna take me. So, it’s about living in the moment, disconnected, with no 3G and no WhatsApp, and being open to whatever comes our way, even when we don’t really know where we’re going in life.

I wrote ‘Vem’ about my family and what it feels like when we’re all together back home. ‘Fenomenal’ means reconnecting to yourself and feeling truly phenomenal on your own terms, and it’s also a nod to Ronaldo Fenômeno. Finally, the last track of the EP is ‘Desaparecida’, which is about feeling lost. The song is also about dealing with my own and other people’s expectations of “making it” in the industry.

WHICH TRACK FROM THE EP HAS THE CLOSEST CONNECTION WITH YOU AND WHY?

I’m close to all of them, but if I had to pick one, I’d say ‘Vem’.

I’m very proud of this song because I think I was able to encapsulate a Sunday afternoon with my family back in Brazil. Also, this song helped me achieve a lifelong dream of mine, which was to be a part of the FC25 Soundtrack!

HOW LONG HAS THE RECORD BEEN IN THE MAKING, AND WHAT DID YOU ENJOY THE MOST WHILE CREATING IT?

I’ve been working on this EP and my project since September 2022! I loved the freedom of experimenting and blending di erent sounds. For example, ‘Fenomenal’ is baile-funk with house music, ‘Vem’ and ‘Desaparecida’ are more on the Latin pop vein, and ‘Alô’ is more on the electronic wave.

YOUR STREAMING NUMBERS ARE ENORMOUS –170M! AND YOU’VE GOT 1M MONTHLY LISTENERS. CAN YOU TALK TO US ABOUT THE AMAZING MOMENTUM YOU HAVE BUILT AND THE KEY FACTORS THAT HAVE PLAYED A ROLE IN YOUR SUCCESS SO FAR?

I think two of the key factors are collaborations and releasing consistently. Over the years, I’ve been able to work with DJs, which really helped widen and build my audience. I also can’t emphasise enough how important it is to me to make genuine connections with fans and how much I love to perform and play live. I think all of these help with the growth.

WHAT’S THE JOURNEY BEEN LIKE FOR YOU AS AN ARTIST SO FAR, AND HOW DO YOU ENVISAGE IT CHANGING AND DEVELOPING IN THE FUTURE? DO YOU HAVE PARTICULAR AIMS?

The journey has been a rollercoaster. I’ve had some very fortunate moments that I will carry with me forever, like supporting Example on tour, getting selected to perform at the Silverstone Grand Prix, and getting incredible syncs, besides all of the amazing people I’ve been able to meet and collaborate with. However, it’s always a struggle, especially when you’re creating a di erent sound or when you are an outsider.

I hope that maybe the UK will become even more accepting of songs in di erent languages taking more of the centre space. Hopefully, we can see growth for Latin artists in the UK - I would love to keep pushing this movement forward.

AS AN ARTIST AND CREATOR, YOU BRING SO MUCH ENERGY TO THE SCENE! ARE YOU SETTING OUT TO CREATE YOUR OWN ENTIRELY NEW STYLE? HOW DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AS AN ARTIST, AND WHERE DO YOU DRAW INSPIRATION FROM?

Aw, obrigada! I see myself as a performer who just wants to make people dance and feel alive. My inspiration comes from icons like Carmen Miranda, M.I.A., Nathy Peluso, and Skrillex - they all bring such a unique energy and boldness to their art, and that’s what I strive for.

There’s a lot of freedom in my music and in my shows. I’m here to create a vibrant, colourful reality where people can connect through music, let loose, and have fun. Sharing that energy with the audience - feeling their presence, seeing them dance, and vibing together - is what truly drives me. It’s about bringing people together, whether it’s UK and BR, and uniting people from di erent worlds on the same dance oor.

WHAT’S BEEN THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE IN YOUR CAREER, AND WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEW ARTISTS?

The biggest challenge has been nding my sound. Over these past few years, I felt pressured by myself as if I needed to do a speci c genre when I’ve always wanted to have musical freedom. My advice would be to create freely and try as hard as you can to remove your ego and expectations from your music.

FINALLY,

WHAT’S NEXT FOR NONÔ?

I’ll be promoting +55, touring the UK, performing globally, and releasing more music!
