Kids & Cannabis Should we speak with our children about cannabis?

A

s I mentioned previously, after overcoming years and generations of misleading information surrounding cannabis we finally have the opportunity to educate the next generation with facts provided by study and our own experiences. The best source of information on cannabis for our children is us, the #cannamom. My perspective is this:

“Yes, we should speak with our children about cannabis.”

T

he intention herein is that our children grow up with knowledge and awareness whence cannabis is concerned. Educating our children on the many uses & benefits of cannabis is important. Millions of people worldwide consume legal cannabis to heal all sorts of conditions. Evidence suggests that we still have a long way to go due to past scheduling and the negative impact that had on research.

S

hould you decide to educate your children about cannabis, I recommend joining a support group with shared priorities in the effort to break the motherhood & cannabis stigma. We must stay motivated! We must walk the path less chosen even though it be fraught with criticism. We must not wallow in doubt created by those naysayers who would judge us in a negative light. We must applaud ourselves for being open & honest with the reality of cannabis. As a mother, you will always know what is best for your own children.

T

iming is everything. Choosing age appropriate content whilst educating our children is essential. We must also keep in mind that not all children develop at the same rate and take this into constant consideration. As mothers we know the capabilities of each of our children. We must ensure a certain level of maturity to comprehend our theme.

I

always encourage you to begin with your local legal channels. Explain cannabis legislature in a simple way. Sharing the history of the plant helps too. Speak to your children about licensing and how patients have an identification card just like a driver’s license or insurance card. Educate your children on the beginners basics of the human endocannabinoid system in language easy for them to understand. Share your personal experience and communicate that even children with special conditions use cannabis to heal. It is time to normalize the use of cannabis for a better parenting experience. In education your children you save them from false information and provide them with the tools to discern and in turn educate others. This is the beginning of a new chain reaction asserting the change towards truth & medical use of cannabis.

K

eep your support network close. When you realize you are not alone you will find renewed motivation and validation. #cannamoms are the key to the cannabis industry and the future. Story & Photos by @cannamamipr
