PNOY: I’M SURPRISED BY BINAY’S DECISION By Sandy Araneta and Rey E. Requejo
PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III fired back Thursday at Vice President Jejomar Binay, saying the people know who was telling the truth, and who is not. Reacting to Binay’s attack on his administration Monday, the President said the Vice President never brought up those issues when he was still a member of the Cabinet, but said other Cabinet members would answer his allegations point-by-point. Aquino admitted he was surprised by Binay’s sudden departure from the Cabinet, and said he called up the Vice President after he received his resignation letter, which was submitted to Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa. “I was surprised why there was a resignation at this point in time. So I called him up and eventually we got to talk and I asked him specifically what was the reason,” Aquino said. Binay replied, “A lot”, and said that the Vice President would just write it all down and send it to him (Aquino). Next page

In a letter to Pimentel dated June 24, a copy of
which was obtained by Senate journalists, Binay said he read in the papers that the senator was considering requesting an audit of the different shelter agencies under the HUDCC. ‘’Obviously, your statement is but part of the demolition by perception employed by you and your Senate cohorts for the last 10 months. I hope this is not a bluff. I dare you: Magpapakalalaki ka (Be a man),’’ wrote Binay.
