VER wondered why your male romantic partner has the same traits as your dad? Or that you are drawn to someone whom, without you realizing, is a version of your father? This could sound gross, but hear this out: experts posit that our relationship with our father can affect our love life. “Growing up, you were completely at the will of your parents,” said author and relationship coach Jordan Gray. “Depending on how much love, time, and attention your parents gave you, their involvement in your life undoubtedly affected how you show up in your romantic relationships.” Basically, the way our parents treated us when we were younger can affect the way we view other relationships. However, there are some to which this doesn’t apply; but experts say they are the exception, not the rule. “It’s not just a myth that our relationships with our parents impact our love lives,” licensed psychotherapist and relationship coach Shirani Pathak said in an interview with hellogiggles.com.
