UCH like how we want to show what we’re having for dinner to our friends on social media, we also do whenever we’re traveling. It’s no longer enough that we tell our friends that we spent the weekend in a secluded island in Palawan or the week-long holiday in Batanes; you have to show proof—“photos or it didn’t happen” they say.

WANDERLUST.

Taking photos during your travel is one thing, taking travel photos that will get multiple double taps is another, and taking photos that showcase the beauty of a destination is a different specie altogether. SinoPinas (@sinopinas on Instagram) has successfully done the third aforementioned point.

Founded by John Austria, Raniel Hernandez, Alexis Lim, and Karl Ivan Presentacion, SinoPinas is an online community of Filipinos in a quest of discovering local destinations and introducing them on different perspectives, depending on the contributor’s submission. Anyone can submit their travel photos by labeling their images #Si____ (the location) as if introducing the said spot.

With more than 73,000 followers as of this writing, SinoPinas is the leading Instagram account that features the Philippines, our local version of @beautifuldestinations if you will.

Its co-founders share the basic techniques to make your travel photos IG-worthy.

HE thrill of riding an aerial cable and the excitement of discovering cliff-backed islands and pristine white beaches of El Nido in Palawan are combined in one zipline ride.

Two-year-old El Nido Zipline (owned and operated by Palawan Zipline Adventure, Inc.) in Brgy. Corong-corong, El Nido, Palawan offers an exhilarating and picturesque outdoor adventure to locals and tourists. The zipline, the first in the area, takes riders on a 750-meter one-way ride that goes as high as 262-feet above sea level.

For over a minute, riders can revel in the beauty of El Nido seascape and landscape from above. The ride takes off on top of a hill on top of Orange Pearl Resort, goes downhill over silky white sand beaches and water, and finally lands on an island.

Aside from popular islands, islets, and white sand beaches, it also offers a perfect view of the famous Bacuit Bay of El Nido.

“Its top of the hill takeoff with a commanding view and landing on an island makes us different from the rest of the country’s ziplines,” El Nido Zipline owner Baham Mitra proudly told Manila Standard Young Life.

According to Mitra, the ride is popular among young tour-

ists, aged 16 to 45, as, he says, there is a challenging climb going up the lift-off portion as well as on the island upon landing to the take-off area.

Mainly an addition to the tourist attractions in El Nido, the outdoor ride also serves as an alternative activity during rough sea conditions. “Normally during the rainy season, we have less riders but when the coast guard does not allow island hopping for tourists, we witness a big barrage of people lining up to the zipline,” relates Mitra.

Mitra, however, emphasizes that safety of riders remains the main priority of the company, followed, of course, by their enjoyment.

“When the winds are too strong we do not operate,” he points out. “We also use European made gears to make sure of the durability and safety of our equipment.”

Pilipinas pre-pageant activities, it is the parade of beauties that is highly anticipated and most attended for it gives the people a glimpse of the country’s up-and-coming beauty queens. After the National Costume and Talent competitions, the Bb. Pilipinas 2017 pre-judging committee may already have selected the lucky girls who would or should make the cut as semifinalists to be announced during the grand coronation tonight at the Smart Araneta Coliseum telecast via ABS-CBN.

A FEW weeks back, singer Charice Pempengco posted some troubling messages on Twitter following her announcement that she would be taking a break from showbiz.

“Happy for what I’ve achieved, for what I’ve become, for making people happy. I’ll just leave it like that. I’m tired now,” her social media post said.

Thereafter, her concert at the Kia Theater scheduled on March 24 was cancelled leaving her fans more curious on the singer’s sudden decision.

The concert was supposed to be her chance to thank her fans and give them updates on her personal and professional status.

According to Star Music, the concert was cancelled due to personal reasons without further elaborating on what was troubling the singer. But answer to this puzzle came quickly when the singer’s handler Carl Cabral, in a report by ABS-CBN News on Thursday, confirmed that Charice and her partner for four years have called it quits.

In 2013, Charice shocked the world when she came out as a lesbian on national television.

On the same year, she also announced her romantic relationship with Alyssa Quijano, a former contestant of The X Factor Philippines. Last October, the pair talked about the secret to their strong relationship and discussed about having kids.
