one way to make a statement is by wearing an apparel with a graphic print. Daryl Maat presented a subtly striking dress inspired by the paintings of Degas.

While Maat had a classic inspiration, Jinggo Inoncillo was inspired by the cover of the oldest running comic book publication for children in the Philippines. He designed a sweater, shorts, and a tote bag based from it in his collection for Garage. other designers who fancied graphic prints were LSW for Garage and Anthony Ramirez, who showcased a layered graphic shirt and a graphic print dress, respectively.

Diana is not only known for her skills with the Lasso of Truth but also for her immortal beauty. Oversized tops

The oversized button-down was a hot item last year during the New york Fashion Week, but, 12 months later, it seems like it will remain a staple among the stylish crowd.

Arin’s collection showcased an oversized long sleeve shirt dress that exhibited an effortless edgy look. Renan Pacson, on the other hand, created an oversized black neoprene sweater that expressed his revolutionary style.

Although for a subtly oversized #ootd, turn to GyLE that made its debut on MFF’s runway by presenting various possible looks with this trend such as matching an oversized shirt with a pair of wide-leg denim pants.

From oversized shirts to wide-leg bottoms, it seems like everything is getting large. For instance was Kc Pusing’s creation of a jumpsuit featuring mesh details and play on patterns and symmetry in muted colors.

Anthony Ramirez, whose inspiration was women’s power in style, created a beautifully unique wide-leg pants to display the feminine silhouette.

Proving that wide-leg trousers are not only for the ladies, Alex Diaz for Junca Salon created his own take on this trend with a supersize wide-leg pants in white with hints of black.

Harley Quinn

The most notable feature in this psychotic super-villain’s face is her messy eyeshadow and lipstick. 10 real life horror stories that will keep you up tonight W

e asked 10 people for the most terrifying thing that happened to them. Just a heads up, in case you’re looking forward to sleeping with lights off tonight, reading this might be a bad idea.

We were in my mom’s home in the province for a week. as with most houses in the rural village, the comfort room is located a few steps outside of the house. one night, while everyone was asleep, I woke up with an urge to pee. I went to the bathroom. When the light won’t turn on, I just sat on the toilet and did my business. suddenly there was a light knocking on the door, so I hurried. When I opened the door, there was no one outside. I asked the next morning who was knocking the bathroom door, and no one answered.

–Andrea When I was in college, studying Industrial design, I was like a zombie because I did not get enough sleep. It was three o’ clock in the morning and I went into my dad’s office to get something to help me with my plate. after getting what I needed, I locked the office and turned around. When I unintentionally looked at the mirror at the end of the hall, I saw a white shadow with a face behind me.

–Dale It was my last class, 6 to 9 p.m., and there were only a few classes in the building so some halls were dark. When I went to the bathroom, I saw a kid whom I thought was a child of a professor. I asked her what she was doing in the dark, wondering if she was lost. she did not respond and just kept on fidgeting, so I just said “okay then, take care of yourself.” While I was heading to my classroom, I looked back where the kid was sitting; she was suddenly gone, without any sound.

–Nikki I was lying down on a mattress on the floor watching tV. suddenly I felt sleepy, but before I finally fell asleep I felt someone tugging my hair. I woke up feeling a slight pain on my scalp.

I was alone that day.

–Mary Anne We were at caleruega for a retreat. I heard a lot of ghost stories about the place but I didn’t believe any of it. on our second night, past midnight, we heard a girl screaming so loud as if she was dying. We tried to look for her but we didn’t see anyone.

We had an event which finished a bit late at around 12 midnight. We then brought some of our equipment in our organization’s room, which was located on the fourth floor of the building. Prior to that, I have been hearing stories that there was a ghost playing on the fourth floor every night, but I didn’t believe it. after dropping our equipment, we immediately headed for the elevator to go down to the ground floor. but when the doors opened, we were brought back to the the fourth floor. We felt the elevator going down but ended on the same floor.

–Candice It was nine in the morning when the carpenters working at our compound heard that there was a lady crying in my uncle’s house, which was peculiar because nobody was home. It made them uncomfortable so they looked inside and found that there was nobody in the house, but just the two of them who went in.

–Eric I was in my second year as a college student when me and my roommates started hearing strange sound coming from nowhere. We will only hear this either when we were alone of if there was only one of us awake past midnight. one night, when I was sick and alone in the dormitory, I heard someone seemingly stomping. I immediately got out of bed and went home.

–Danielle ever since I joined the college-based theater organization, we always offer food at the bridge of the theater in the education auditorium. We do this because there was a high school girl who, while putting the backdrop for a play, fell from the bridge and died. We offer food so that she won’t interrupt our productions.

–Tim My cousins and I went to a vacant, hilly spot in Laguna to do a bit of exploration one afternoon. When my cousins stopped from exhaustion, I went ahead and went down from a particularly high hill. below, I saw a girl under a tree, when I tried to approach her, I saw that she was wearing torn clothes and her face looked like it was decaying. I shouted. and she also shouted. We had the same voice. I ran quickly and never looked back.

everyone’s picking on this funky trend because of it’s celebratory vibe that is definitely making a statement. Palaganas presented a crop top and tight ankle-length skirt that has tassels on it which depicted a colonial spanish silhouette.

GyLe incorporated tassels to one of his looks by mixing a tangerine yellow top with a tassel combined to a wide-leg denim pants. tassel detailing integrated with pompoms can also be applied to men’s fashion as seen in Ziggy savella’s collection for Garage. savella used a tassel choker while pompoms accented the ends of the shirt and the trousers’ sides.

During the QCinema Awards Night, held at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center on Thursday, Vice Mayor Joy Belmxonte was proud to announce that the festival was bigger this year and was well received by younger audience.

“In Quezon City, the average age of the population is 24. And compared last year more young people headed to the cinemas to watch the film featured by the festival. Indeed, QCinema is the film fest for the millennials,” Belmonte told select cinephiles, film industry titans, and city government representatives who joined in the evening of indie film celebration.

In the QC Shorts roster, Babylon

Pet Blessing held in General Trias, Cavite The historic san Francisco de Asis parish church in General Trias (GenTri) City, Cavite and the local government unit of Gentri celebrated the yearly Feast Day of its patron saint with a pet blessing and free anti-rabies shots for pets. in a week-long celebration early this month, Fr. Jun Poblete, parish priest, held a mass before the pet blessing.

At the city plaza, the Gentri local government led by Mayor Antonio Ferrer, in coordination with the agriculture department, provided free anti-rabies vaccines for pets.

When terrorists attacked the city of Marawi, residents had to flee fast. Unfortunately, they had to leave their pets behind.

Animal welfare groups sent dog and cat food with the help of the vet office of the iligan City local government and members of media who brought the food inside Marawi. soldiers fed the dogs and cats despite the ongoing crisis then.

After the military got complete control over some areas, soldiers took in dogs in their headquarters and gave the poor souls food and shelter. some mama dogs gave birth in the military headquarters and the soldiers took care of them too.

Safe home remedieS for dogS with mange pet tales

By desiree carlos AN iNCrEAsiNG number of dogs with demodectic mange or galis have been spotted by animal lovers on the streets of Metro Manila and posted in Facebook for rescue.

This is saddening because most of these dogs were apparently abandoned by their owners, with some deliberately dumped on a vacant lot, as far away from home as possible to get rid of the pet, or niligaw. They have been neglected because of their physical condition.

This also makes us in the animal welfare world so mad because demodectic mange can be treated. Please do not dump your dog on a vacant lot or abandon him/her just because the pet developed mange. it is not the dog’s fault. if you can not handle mange or galis, then please, do not get a dog ever again. in two earlier columns, i have discussed how to prevent mange. in brief, you can prevent mange by keeping your dog’s immune system strong through proper nutrition and keeping her mental and emotional state healthy, and making sure your place is clean.

This kind of mange is caused by a small mite demodex canis which is present in all dogs but which multiplies fast when the dog is not healthy.

Organicfacts.com says: “.. if a dog is suffering from malnutrition, abuse, or a severely compromised immune system, those mites can begin to reproduce rapidly and start to wreak havoc on the canine’s fur. This can result in hair loss in small patches and mild irritation but can be as se-

rious as widespread hair loss, infections, and lifethreatening complications. For our beloved pets, it can be difficult to see them going through so much pain without being able to help.”

Treating mange is not that expensive as long as you find a vet who does not over charge.

You will pay for : 1. cost of test to determine what kind of mange your dog has (about P150- P200); 2. the professional fee (about P150 to P300); 3. an injection or oral meds (about P300); and 4. medicated shampoo (about P250 to P300) or soap (P70 to P110). i strongly suggest you bring your dog to the vet for the prescription medicine: one is injected (the dosage should be determined by your doctor alone); the other is a tablet.

Two warnings: Never inject on your dog and please, do not overuse prescription meds. Why? This can cause damage to the liver and kidneys.

Most dogs i know who were given oral meds developed liver problems a few months later.

To avoid overusing meds, please do the following to complement what your vet is doing to treat your dog: 1. start feeding good, nutritious food to your dog. Avoid chicken or its by-products when a dog has developed mange. This irritates their skin more.

2. Do make sure the place where your dog stays is clean.

3. Make your dog feel loved and make him/ her happy. hug your pet, give belly rubs more often, walk your dog, among others.

4. Give your dog a bath once a week. Your vet might prescribe medicated soap or shampoo too.

5. Clean your dog’s beddings.

6. UsE NATUrAL hOME rEMEDiEs. These home remedies will lower the treatment cost further.

You can do one or a combination of two or three of the following home remedies: 1. Madre de Cacao fresh leaves with virgin coconut oil a. Pound the leaves of madre de cacao b. Miix virgin coconut oil. c. Apply or rub on affected areas. d. Let it stay for at least two hours e. remove the mixture using cloth soaked in water. Then bathe your dog using the soap or shampoo your vet recommended 2. Aloe Vera Organicfacts.com says aloe vera is a natural antiseptic and is an antiparasitic, thus, “.it makes for an ideal home remedy for mange.” spread aloe vera, either in gel or tea form, on the affected areas twice a day.

Organicfacts.com says results will be seen in a few days.

3. Lemon and garlic a. soak 6-10 cloves of garlic with lemon peels in water overnight.

Organicfacts says: “the resulting liquid will be infused with a wide variety of beneficial organic compounds to stimulate healing and neutralize the parasites on your dog. “ b. Apply on affected parts. “it might smell a bit strange, but it will get the job done,” Organicfacts.com adds.

4. Apple cider vinegar Put a small amount of apple cider vinegar to your dog’s usual food.

Mango is now one happy, handsome dog after treatment which combined vet-prescribed meds with good food, multivitamins to strengthen his immune system, lots of hugs and love, and safe home remedies approved by the vet.

a. suffocate the parasites that are reproducing so rapidly, and b. sooth the inflamed areas and stimulate rapid healing.

6.Olive oil Olive oil or other cooking oils placed on the affected areas can alleviate the inflammation and the waxy build-up on the skin due to mange, and eliminate the parasites in the affected area.

Warning: These home remedies may be effective but life-threatening secondary infections can occur. i strongly suggest that you bring your pet to the vet for proper treatment, and to discuss the treatment plan.
