PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney elevated Philippines-Canada relations to a strategic partnership on Friday (Manila time) in Vancouver. The two leaders sealed four bilateral agreements and launched negotiations for a free trade agreement aimed at expanding cooperation in defense, trade, energy, labor, culture, tourism, and regional security. The agreements were signed following the leaders' bilateral meeting at the Vancouver Convention Centre during Mr. Marcos' official visit to Canada. Speaking during a joint press statement, Marcos said the new agreements would strengthen cooperation across key sectors while reinforcing the longstanding people-to-people ties between the two countries.
