I WON’T BE CAUGHT ALIVE, QUIBOLOY TELLS FLOCK By Joel E. Zurbano

ships—the BRP Gregorio Del Pilar (PS-15) and BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS-16); the US Navy’s USS Mobile (LCS-26); Australia’s HMAS Warramunga (FFH-152); and Japan’s JS Akebono (DD-108) (inset)—will trace the waters of the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone from south to north today (outlined in red) in a Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA), according to the Department of Defense.
Breaking down toward the end of the recording, Quiboloy made his statement days after the National Bureau of Investigation and the police initiated a search to serve two arrest warrants issued by a Davao regional court against him and five of his associates in connection with child abuse and sexual abuse cases. Among the suspects, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder remains the only one at large and is now considered a “fugitive”. “I am not hiding from this case because I am guilty. No. I am avoiding (arrest) because I am protecting myself,” Quiboloy said in Filipino to his followers in the Davao-based religious group. The televangelist alleged that the United States authorities intended to kidnap or kill him rather than extradite him for trial in an American court, without specifying why the US would want him dead. He also claimed that President Marcos Jr. had agreed to hand him over to the Americans, suggesting that recent actions by the Senate and the House of Representatives against him and his group were part of the alleged US strategy. Senator Ronald dela Rosa on Saturday advised Quiboloy – a close friend of the lawmaker’s erstwhile boss, former President Rodrigo Duterte”—to “face the music” and surrender to authorities. “I have no other advice except to face his cases and let the wheels of justice turn. We have justice. Hopefully, he faces this so that this mess can be resolved,” said dela Rosa, the former Davao and Philippine National Police chief, in a radio interview. According to dela Rosa, he was unable to talk to Quiboloy, but warned the preacher that he could not evade the law any longer considering his active warrant. Wanted in the US, Quiboloy has been placed on the US Federal Bureau of Investigation’s list of most wanted after he and several of his associates were indicted by a federal grand jury in a California district court in 2021 for a series of cases, including sex trafficking, fraud and coercion, misuse of visas, bulk cash smuggling, and money laundering. The self-proclaimed “Appointed Son of God” said his decision not to surrender was “wisdom from God” aimed at protecting himself.
5 SHIPS TO SAIL LENGTH OF EEZ IN 4-NATION NAVAL, AIR DRILLS statement Saturday, as they deepen ties to counter China’s growing assertiveness in the region. Taking part in the MCA, according to the Department of Defense, arethe Philippines’ offshore patrol vessels the BRP Gregorio Del Pilar (PS-15) and BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS-16); the US Navy’s littoral combat ship USS Mobile (LCS26); Australia’s HMAS Warramunga (FFH-152); and Japan’s destroyer JS Akebono (DD-108). The exercise will take place in the
disputed waterway—which Beijing claims almost entirely—days before US President Joe Biden is due to hold the first trilateral summit with the leaders of the Philippines and Japan. They said it would demonstrate the allies’ “collective commitment to strengthen regional and international cooperation in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.” The four defense chiefs said they would “strengthen the interoperability of our... doctrines, tactics,
techniques, and procedures” with the MCA, which will include an antisubmarine warfare training, tactical, link and photo exercises, Japanese and Philippine reports said. This developed as the Philippine Coast Guard on Saturday reported that they and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources were harassed by the Chinese Coast Guard while conducting operations at the Rozul Reef on Thursday. Bersamin on April 4. The NCSP 2023-2028, as formulated under Section 15 of Republic Act10844 or the DICT Act of 2015, delineates the nation’s policytrajectory and furnishes operational guidelines aimed at cultivating a trusted, secured, and resilient cyberspace for all Filipinos.
DA WON’T IMPOSE NEW SRP ON RICE, PRICE CAP–SPOX By Charles Dantes THE Department of Agriculture will not recommend a new retail price ceiling or suggested retail prices (SRPs) on rice despite the continued double-digit growth in the staple grain’s inflation rate. “We do not have a plan to impose a price cap or SRP because it might have an ill effect in the future,” Agriculture Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Arnel de Mesa said at the Saturday News Forum in Quezon City. This is as the DA is ramping up efforts to enhance rice production across the Philippines while reducing costs, aiming to alleviate the strain of global inflation and El Niño on food and non-food commodities. De Mesa outlined the government’s strategy, emphasizing increased mechanization and streamlined post-harvest processes to invigorate agricultural activity. The effective preparation and coordinated response of the government has already mitigated the impact of El Niño, which is not expected to significantly affect palay production across the nation, as many regions had already completed their rice harvest amid the dry spell, De Mesa added.
