Quiboloy: Slay try, $2m bounty on me KOJC boss admits he’s in hiding; FBI denies reward money, US sees him ‘facing justice’
Let wage boards rule on pay hikes, Chamber of Commerce asks gov’t By Othel V. Campos and Macon Ramos-Araneta THE Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) appealed to Congress to let wage boards decide on wage increases rather than push for a legislated increase that would only benefit a few and disenfranchise other members of the labor force. PCCI president Eunina Mangio said the proposed P100 legislated wage increase co-authored by Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and Senator Jinggoy Estrada, which is now on the third and

Why don’t we instead legislate measures to address the rising cost in food prices and other issues that hamper our economic growth?” she said. Congress should allow the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) and Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) to decide on minimum wage movements, PCCI said. Next page

from P1b in Bataan nuke plant ruling By Rey E. Requejo THE Supreme Court has ruled with finality on its 2021 decision that ordered the estate of the late businessman Herminio Disini, founder of the Herdis Group of Companies, to pay the government damages for the mothballed $2.3-billion Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) in Morong, Bataan. But instead of P1 billion in temperate damages to be paid by Disini’s estate
as it earlier ordered, the SC modified the amount to “P100 million, or about 3.5 percent of the total money being claimed by the government,” saying it “is more appropriate.” “The original award of P1 billion represents about 35 percent of the amount being claimed by the Republic ($50,562,500). Clearly, such an amount is excessive and out of proportion, and must therefore be reduced,” it stressed. Next page
