THERE will be no room for mudslinging and demolition jobs under the “Bagong Pilipinas” campaign that the administration is advocating, President Marcos said in a YouTube post over the weekend. The President issued the statement a week after former President Rodrigo Duterte accused him of using illegal drugs and Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte called for his resignation after describing him as a “lazy” Chief Executive (see related story on A1 – Editors). On YouTube, Mr. Marcos also said the country should come first, and that there will be no “Bagong Pilipinas” if people refuse to change. THE number of people killed due to the heavy rains that caused flooding and landslides in Mindanao has increased to 16, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Sunday. The NDRRMC's latest situational report said all the 16 reported fatalities are still subject to validation. All of the victims came from

the Davao Region, where three individuals also remained missing, while 11 were injured, the NDRRMC added. A total of 772,276 people or 204,840 families in 508 barangays in Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Caraga, and the Bangsamoro region were affected by the rains brought by the northeast monsoon or “amihan” and the trough of a now-dissipated lowpressure area.
