RESIDENT Marcos declared on Thursday that the Philippines has successfully overcome the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, the repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine war, and the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.

In his address during the annual Vin D’ Honneur in Malacañang, the President urged members of the diplomatic corps to collaborate with his administration in reaching new heights. "I continue to enjoin the diplomatic corps to work closely with us in identifying areas where we can pursue joint and collective endeavors and initiatives,” Mr. Marcos said. “It is with confidence that I announce that the Philippines has... I could say [has] gotten back [on] its feet from the reeling effects of the pandemic and the subsequent shocks that we have suffered from the Ukraine war and now from the conflict in the Middle East,” the President added. He highlighted the country's economic recovery, citing improvements and catch-up spending by the government. PhilHealth set to expand benefits QC prosecutor with hike in premiums under UHC junks Castro case vs. Rody

THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) already implemented the five percent hike in its premium rates this month as scheduled under the Universal Health Care law. "There is no message or directive from Malacañang so we already [implemented] the increase," PhilHealth president and CEO Emmanuel Ledesma Jr. said. The premium rate will go up to five percent this year while the monthly basic

salary ceiling will increase to P100,000. The minimum salary ceiling remains at P10,000. This means a monthly Philhealth contribution of P500 for a worker who earns P10,000 a month. The premium contribution shall be equally shared between the employee and employer. Ledesma said PhilHealth expects an additional P17 billion in revenues this year from the increase in premium rates.
