Diesel, kerosene prices seen going down next week DIESEL and kerosene prices are expected to go down next week, but gasoline prices are seen to rise, industry sources told the Standard. Based on the first four trading days of the week, the price of diesel fuel may decrease by P1.40 per liter and kerosene by P1.20 per liter, sources said. But pump prices for gasoline may go up by 20 to 30 centavos per liter. These figures will change depending on the close of the trading on Friday, the sources added. On Oct. 10, the oil companies implemented a price rollback of P3.05 per liter for gasoline, P2.45 per liter for diesel and P3 per liter for kerosene. Last week’s price adjustments resulted Next page

The first victim was running for barangay councilor in Bucay, Abra. Candidates were also reminded that the campaign period for the Baranagay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE) will end on Saturday, Oct. 28, and that no campaigning will be allowed on Sunday. Meanwhile, more than 100 candidates will face charges for vote buying. Comelec Chairman George Garcia said candidates with pending cases would not be proclaimed. “Candidates buying votes may face disqualification as well as imprisonment of one to six years. Vote sellers, he added, may also be imprisoned for the same period,” he said. Gracia identified the ambush victim in Quezon as Ruben Ilagan Pasia, 63, a resident of Barangay Malaya, General Luna, Quezon. He added that the police have been alerted to the increase in election-related violence. The poll chief also urged the public to help the Comelec fight vote-buying, fake news, violence and terrorism. Missing beauty queen case: Cop now a person of interest THE family of missing beauty queen Catherine Camilon will be provided with a security detail after authorities revealed a policeman was a person of interest in the case. "We already instructed the chief of police of Tuy, Batangas to give security and assistance to the family of Miss Catherine," said Region 4-A chief of police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas. Lucas said the police officer is now with the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit in Camp Vicente Lim in Laguna. "He did not say he had something to do with the disappearance.
