DOJ asked to reverse resolution clearing 17 cops of murder raps

THE Department of Justice (DOJ) has been asked to overturn a resolution of the panel of prosecutors that dismissed the murder complaints filed against 17 policemen for the deaths of a couple in Nasugbu, Batangas on March 7, 2021.
In a petition for review filed by Rosenda Lemita, mother of Ana Mariz “Chair” Lemita, wife of Ariel Evangelista asked Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla to reverse the resolution of the DOJ panel of prosecutors and instead recommend the indictment of the 17 policemen implicated in the death of the Evangelista couple who were found dead in their residence after a joint police and military operations in Southern Luzon provinces in search of persons “affiliated with communist groups.” mostly prevented by poverty which is why “the livelihood distribution program is a good step in the right direction for them.”
In its social media post, the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers (NUPL) confirmed that Rosenda filed the petition last Friday, Aug. 4.
The petition for review came after the DOJ panel of prosecutors resolved last May to dismiss the murder complaints filed against the 17 policemen for the alleged killing of the couple. Rosenda filed her motion for reconsideration.
“Batid ko po na marami sa ating mga beneficiaries ang kayang-kaya at gustung-gusto pa magtrabaho o magnegosyo, kaya naman inaasahan ko po na malaki ang maitutulong ng livelihood distribution ng PESO para sa inyong kabuhayan,” Mayor Along stated.
The mayor also called on the beneficiaries to let their businesses grow and encouraged his constituents to take care of the opportunities provided by the city government to them.

“Survivors also said that the boat carried heavy cargo, such as motorcycles and sacks of sand and rice. Clearly, there was overloading considering that the manifest stated that there were only 22 passengers and three crew members. PCAARRD eyes enhanced usage of microalgae

THE University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) is researching on the optimization of postharvest protocols of microalgae for improved shelf life and product diversification.
Funded by Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resource Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST PCAARRD), the project aims to produce shelf stable and low moisture microalgae that could be used as aquafeeds.
