Communication students get inspired by media experts in Pinoy Media Congress 2023

A TOTAL of 1,865 attended the two-day hybrid Pinoy Media Congress 2023 where ABS-CBN and the Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE) shared their valuable knowledge about current trends and developments in the media industry.

Communication students from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao gathered for the two-part event held inperson at Cavite State University and the University of the Philippines Mindanao on April 29 and May 6, respectively. The online platform was hosted by the University of the Philippines Los Baños.

ABS-CBN Music Head Roxy Liquigan shared about championing Filipino music and artists in the Philippines and abroad, while ABS-CBN Music Head for International Marketing and Promo Partnerships Naomi Enriquez talked about the process of launching digital and media partnerships locally and internationally.

ABS-CBN Film Restoration head Leo Katigbak showed the rigorous procedures that take place during the restoration and explained the need in saving classic Filipino films, while Dirty Linen head writer Kay Brondial presented the creative process behind the production of the hit Kapamilya series.

ABS-CBN chief of reporters Jeff Canoy talked about how disaster and crisis reporting evolved in the pandemic and how journalists cover these kinds of stories in the digital era. Meanwhile, communication educators Dr. Rosario Ruby Roan-Cristobal and Val Vestil shared their expertise on science and environmental journalism, respectively.
