Russian envoy eyes broader relations between Manila and Moscow

By Rey E. Requejo

RUSSIAN Ambassador to the Philip - pines Marat Pavlov on Friday said his country believes there are many areas of cooperation with Manila which they consider a “significant partner” in the observance of Russia Day.

Pavlov said Moscow and Manila

“have achieved a lot,” but the potential of the two countries “is far from being exhausted.”

One of the possible areas of cooperation for the two countries is food and energy security, he said.

The envoy said it can be attained “by supplying of such vital commodities as fertilizers and energy resources.”

Moscow and Manila can also partner on “peaceful nuclear,” which Pavlov said has already gained “a lot of attention in the Philippines lately.”

“Besides, there is a potential of a broader cooperation in terms of manufacturing and agriculture, communication and technology, culture and education,” the ambassador said in his speech during the Russia Day celebration in Manila.

Pavlov also sought a direct flight between Moscow and Manila, which he said “would undoubtedly give a big boost to both business and touristic exchanges.” of Agriculture (DA) issued last April 27 Memorandum Order (MO) No. 32 covering the “Implementing Guidelines on the Distribution and Use of biofertilizers, which sets the guidelines on the distribution and use of biofertilizers for 2023.”

Then: there is a “crucial field” in terms of inter-regional relations.

They noted that MO 32 apparently aims “to conquer high price of inputs and promote alternative inputs such as biofertilizers,” given that President Marcos announced at a recent DA sectoral meeting “his administration’s push for the use of biofertilizers by our farmers to cut their use of imported petroleum-based fertilizers.”
