By Vito Barcelo
THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) has seized some P2.6 million worth of kush and shabu in two separate operations in Bulacan and Clark, Pampanga.
Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said their agents foiled an at- tempt to smuggle 1,028 grams of high grade marijuana or kush worth P1,69 million at the Port of Clark.
The contraband was declared as “cooking materials,” but was discovered to be illegal drugs after the X-R Inspection Project (XIP) personnel conducted physical inspection of the shipment.
Meanwhile, the BOC-Port of Clark, together with the Customs Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), arrested two claimants of the methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu worth over P1million..
Declared as “chocolates,” the shipment was initially subjected to X-ray inspection and K9 sniffing, both of which raised suspicions of the presence of illegal drugs. After a physical examination of the shipment, one pack of Nerds gummies containing one medium pack and ten small packs of white crystalline substances was found.
