MORE than 3,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) applying for work in Kuwait this month will be derailed because the Kuwait government has stopped issuing new visas to Filipinos, migrant expert Emmanuel Geslani said Friday.
In a statement, Geslani said that talks between both sides ended in a deadlock over issues on the “Welfare Centers” which the Kuwaiti government wants removed while the Philippine panel insists that is part of the mandate of the government.
Geslani said he doubts the deployment ban on new domestic and skilled workers to Kuwait would be lifted anytime soon.
Meanwhile the three thousand OFWs bound for Kuwait this month of May will tax collection while devolving functions of certain social services within their jurisdictions.

Mr. Marcos made the pronouncement on Friday during the fourth general assembly of the League of Provinces of the Philippines in Clark, Pam panga.
In his speech, Mr. Marcos acknowledged that the full devolution of certain functions of the executive branch to LGUs as directed by the existing EO 138 could not be done.
THE Department of Education is planning to roll out the updated Kinder to Grade 10 (K-10) curriculum by school year (SY) 2024-2025, DepEd spokesperson Michael Poa said Friday.
In an interview, Poa said the target rollout date is consistent with DepEd’s commitment to gather all public comments in order to fine-tune the K-10 curriculum before its implementation.
