MEGAWIDE BAGS CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION PLUM. Megawide Construction Corp. recently won a prize for Decorative Concrete at the Philippine Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards (PECCA) for the Sto. Nino Chapel in Cebu City’s 100-year old Carbon District. The Sto. The Sto. Nino Chapel is a 378-square meter building located in the historic downtown area of Cebu, offering an attractive view of the city’s waterfront and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway. It can accommodate at least 150 parishioners. The chapel’s design is inspired by the shape of the Sto. Nino’s crown, and the wave-like roofing element is influenced by the fluid motion of Cebu’s Sinulog dance. Among the project’s most distinctive features is the undulating roof made of reinforced concrete. The use of reinforced concrete special molds and formworks helped the successful application of this material.
