THE Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation Detection Group (CIDG) has arrested a topranking police official of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) over old criminal charges that ostensibly stemmed from his previous tours of duty. Reports from the CIDG Regional Field Unit 15 identified the arrested police official as PBGEN John Guyguyon. The chief of the Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) in Camp General Salipada K Pendatun in the port town of Parang, Maguindanao del Norte. The two criminal cases were reportedly filed by prosecutors during Guyguyon’s previous assignments ahead of his designation in March last year as BARMM regional police director. The arresting officers of the CIDG-RFU BAR had immediately turned over Guyguyon to PROBAR OIC Deputy Regional Director for Administration, PBGen Gil Francis Tria for custodial arrest and “for proper disposition.”

The CIDG RFU-BAR plotted and served the two arrest warrants on Guyguyon, issued by Presiding Judge Catherine Pespes Manodon, of the National Capital Judicial Region, RTC Branch 104, dated December 1, 2022, said the police blotter on the arrest. A second arrest warrant was issued by Presiding Judge Kathleen Rosario Dela Cruz-Espinosa, National Capital Judicial Region, RTC Branch 91, Quezon City dated May 20, 2022, the same report said. Sources from Camp Crame said that PNP Chief, General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. had recalled the designation of Guyguyon as PRO-BAR director, the night before the CIDG RFU tracking team implemented two arrest warrants that courts in Luzon have issued against Guyguyon.
