In a statement, the party president Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez praised Lacson but said Robredo’s campaign was picking up enough momentum to challenge the frontrunner, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. “Time and context framed the narrative of 2022 in a way that gave traction, rightly or wrongly, to other candidacies instead. This is a difficult fact which takes courage to admit,” Alvarez said. “Right now, two candidates have pulled away from the Next page

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte met with presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos at the Palace on March 20, and shared his experiences as the country’s chief executive with the former senator. This was disclosed by Senator Christopher "Bong" Go, who said the President did most talking during the conversation with Marcos. Go described it as a long talk as the President was in high spirits.
"In fact, in 80 percent of the discussions, it was the President talking," Go said. The former presidential aide also said Duterte gave Marcos, the frontrunner in all pre-election survey results, some advice and expressed his desire to see his projects continued by the next president. Go would not say if this meant that Duterte would endorse Marcos, whom he once described as “spoiled” and a “weak leader.” “Let us just wait if the President will have an announcement on this," said Go, adding that he cannot speak Next page
Side circus: Mix-and-match in tandems By Jimbo Gulle and Macon Ramos-Araneta OWING to the brewing shift of political alliances, even vice presidential candidates are unsure of their standing with their presidential running mates with barely six weeks to go before the May 9 general elections. Some have called on the public to maintain their pairings from the
outset of the campaign to the ballot box, like Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan did Thursday, while others asked Pinoys to consider alternate couplings entirely, as VP candidate Rizalito David and Albay Rep. Joey Salceda did this past week. The aim of this mix-and-matching, pundits believe, is to disrupt the survey-leading tandem of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor
“Inday” Sara Duterte – or at least present Filipinos with alternatives in case they don’t wish to see one or both members of the UniTeam get to lead the country in the next six years. That’s why Pangilinan yesterday called on voters in Tarlac to put him and running mate Vice President Leni Robredo together on the ballot, saying it would be difficult if the future second-in-command
