HINA will not interfere with the resupply mission to Filipino troops stationed at the BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin Shoal in the West Philippine Sea, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said Sunday, citing an assurance from China's ambassador to Manila.
HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS.
In a message sent to reporters, Lon Lonrenzana confirmed Western Command chief Vice Admiral Ramil Roberto EnEn riquez's comments that the resupply will proceed in accordance with his orders. Lorenzana added that the supply boats would not be escorted by Coast Guard or Navy vessels because the Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian, with whom he had been in talks since Nov. 20, said China would not interfere. Asked to comment on Chinese claims that their coast guard vessels water cancan noned the Philippine boats because they were trespassing, Lorenzana said it was sov China that had violated the country's sovexclu ereign rights inside the country's exclusive economic zone (EEZ). "They are the one’s violating our sov sovereign rights within our EEZ,” Lorenzana

PNP chief calls on election bets to test for drugs PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos on Sunday urged all presidential candidates to submit to a drug test. “The PNP acknowledges that no law mandates the candidate to undergo a drug test but doing so will set an example to their countrymen by proving that they aren’t users of illegal drugs,” Carlos said. Carlos's call came after President Rodrigo Duterte alleged that a presidential candidate that he did not name was a cocaine user. Carlos has ordered the PNP's Drug Enforcement Group to look into President Duterte's allegation. Presidential spokesman and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said the Palace was leaving the fate of the alleged illegal drug user to law enforcement agencies. “PDEG has been tasked to work on this info,” Carlos said in a text message sent to reporters on Saturday.

DOJ: No special treatment for Quiboloy By Rey E. Requejo THE pending appeal on a rape complaint against Apollo Quiboloy, President Duterte's spiritual adviser, will not stop his possible extradition to the United States on sex trafficking charges, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said on Sunday. Guevarra said that although there is an appeal on a criminal complaint against the 71-year-old Quiboloy, this could not be used as a ground to stall his possible extradition to the US, since no charges have been filed against him before a Philippine court. “The pendency of the appeal before the Office of the Secretary is not an obstacle to extradition because
there is no indictment in a Philippine court as yet,” the Justice Secretary said. “But extradition is not a simple process,” he added. Guevarra said the Department of Justice and the Department of Foreign Affairs must first evaluate and determine if the US case is covered by the extradition treaty between the United States and the Philippines. Guevarra earlier revealed that a complaint of rape, child abuse, illtreatment under the Revised Penal Code, trafficking in persons through forced labor and trafficking in persons through sexual abuse were filed against Pastor Quiboloy in Davao City last year.
However, these charges were dis-missed and a petition for review was filed before the DO last year. There was only one complainant. Guevarra assured the public that there would be no special treatment given to Quiboloy. The DOJ “would perform its mandate under the law, regardless of the persons involved,” he said. Aside from the extradition treaty, the Philippines also has an existing Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty with the US that could be used in dealing with crimi-nal matters in their country. On Nov. 18, the US prosecutors announced that sex trafficking charges were filed against Quiboloy and
