SOLIDARITY PATROL. Philippine Air Force jet fighters conduct "solidarity maritime patrol" over the Philippine Rise as part of the country's commemoration of the 123rd Independence Day and 5th anniversary of the renaming of the Philippine Rise, formerly Benham Rise. Both events aim to promote marine conservation and to assert the country’s sovereign rights on the feature once known as the Benham Rise, located approximately 250 kilometers east of the northern coastline of Dinapigue, Isabela. An EADS CASA C-295 medium transport and two South Korean-made FA-50PH fighter jets took part in the activity which was organized by the PAF and its Tactical Operations Wing Northern LuzonAboard the transport aircraft was National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, also National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF WPS) chair and Northern Luzon Command chief Lt. Gen. Arnulfo Burgos along with other ranking officials.Esperon was the guest-of-honor during Independence Day ceremonies at Clark Air Base in Angeles City, Pampanga. The event was highlighted by the escort mission conducted by two FA-50PH fighter jets led by PAF chief Lt. Gen. Allen T. Paredes over sovereignty buoys or markers in the Philippine Rise. Vax rollout way off target Treatment czar says only 2% inoculated, blames vax supply slack

NLY about 2 million people out of the Philippines' 109.48 million population have been fully inoculated against COVID-19, almost three months after the national government started its vaccination program, Health Undersecretary and treatment czar Leopoldo Vega said Sunday. "This will take a long time because we know that as of now, we have only fully vaccinated around 2 percent of our population. That's far before the end of the year on vaccinating 50 percent to 70 percent of (the population)," Vega said in a mix of Filipino and English during an interview on Dobol B TV. To hit that target, Vega said, the government would have to vaccinate 500,000 people daily. But the inadequate supply of vaccines is a drag on the vaccination process, he Next page said.
