DON’T TURN BLACK NAZARENE FEAST INTO ‘SUPERSPREADER’—POLICE

MANILA Police District (MPD) chief Police Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco on Friday warned devotees of the Feast of the Black Nazarene that they will be arrested if they violate pandemic safety protocols during the Traslacion, a yearly religious procession that health officials fear may turn into a COVID-19 superspreader event. Police are on hand to enforce physical distancing, Francisco said, and if they do not follow, they will be arrested. Buses from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology would be deployed to serve as temporary detention facilities for violators.
