This developed as the death of the daughter of Bayan Muna Party-list Rep. Eufemia Campos Cullamat in a clash between the New People's Army and government forces in Surigao Del Sur over the weekend highlights the “senseless conflict” being waged by communists, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said. Duterte, who mentioned Cullamat’s death in his televised briefing, said members of the Makabayan bloc in the House of Representatives are not being red-tagged but are merely being identified as CPP fronts. "We are not tagging you. We are identifying you as communists," said the President who previously enjoyed the support of leftist groups when he was still mayor of Davao City and even appointed four left-leaning individuals to his Cabinet in the first year of his administration. About 64 gov’t execs, personnel dismissed NCR, 6 other areas remain By Joyce Pangco Pañares PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte revealed another list of about 64 government officials who were dismissed over graft and corruption cases Monday night. The President said some of those in the list were officials whose dismissal years ago were recently upheld with finality. Among the more prominent names in the President's list were former Agriculture Secretary Nasser Pangandaman and

former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog. Pangandaman served as DAR chief during the term of then President Gloria Arroyo. Mabilog was dismissed by the Ombudsman in 2017 for unexplained wealth. "I have to honor my commitment to the people to report the progress of our campaign against graft and corruption. Some names were slapped with cases before which were only decided now. Some were dismissed years ago but their

dismissal orders took effect with finality only this year," Duterte said. The President accused Mabilog of being part of the illegal drug trade, and was ordered dismissed by the Ombudsman three years ago for unexplained wealth. That same year, Mabilog said he had nothing to hide after the President ordered a lifestyle check on him. Shortly after the President's televised address, Mabilog tweeted: "Coming from him?" 9 cops in Jolo shooting face service ouster THE Armed Forces of the Philippines welcomed the findings of the Philippine National Police-Internal Affairs Service recommending the dismissal of nine police officers involved in the June 29 shooting of four military intelligence operatives in Jolo, Sulu. In a statement, AFP spokesman Edgard Arevalo said the military was still waiting for the criminal case against the suspects to start rolling. "The AFP welcomes the reported recommendation by PNP-IAS to separate the perpetrators from the PNP service. And if ever that recommendation will be adopted, it is but an administrative penalty," Arevalo said.

MOST Filipinos may have to wait until 2022 to be immunized against COVID-19, the country’s vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez said Monday. Galvez, speaking on ANC’s Matter of Fact, said “equitable access” to the vaccine would most likely be achieved in 2022 because of the limited supply. For now, he said, priority will be given to health care workers, indigents, vulnerable groups, essential workers, policemen and soldiers. The government will also give priority to areas that have been hard hit by the pandemic, such as Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao. Galvez said the government is already negotiating with China's Sinovac, Johnson & Johnson's pharmaceutical arm Janssen and US drug maker Pfizer, among others, for possible vaccine supply deals. The Philippine Council for Health Research Development, meanwhile, said the mass vaccination of millions of Filipinos could start by June or July 2021, despite the expected scarcity of vaccines. The council’s executive director Dr. Jaime Montoya said the government continues to coordinate with thed suppliers of vaccines. Next page
