ALACAÑANG on Wednesday said House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano’s move to suspend the session is not illegal, describing it as an “astute political move” to avoid infighting over the speakership that can take place on Oct. 14. “There was a plenary vote that they will go on break already. Requejo and Julito Rada THE Department of Justice-Office of Cybercrime on Wednesday warned the public against online attacks perpetrated through email, text or phone calls. This prompted the office to issue an advisory due to increasing reports from the public involving “phishing” electronic mails, “vishing” or voice phone/ calls, and “smishing” or SMS/text attack in relation to online banking. “The objective thereof is to lure individuals into providing sensitive data such as personally identifiable information, banking and credit card details and usernames and passwords,” the advisory states. Meanwhile, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has warned the public on Wednesday to beware of online sellers advertising “brilliant” uncirculated

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Wednesday urged local governments to enforce ordinances banning videoke singing and noisy activities that may distract students from their online classes. The Philippine National Police, an attached agency of the DILG, earlier said it would coordinate with local governments to regulate drinking and videoke sessions in public places.
“As disciplined and responsible parents and citizens, let’s help our students have quiet and peaceful surroundings so they can study well inside their home,” Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said in a statement.
