PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte said he is “inutile” when it comes to China's nine-dash-line claim over the entire South China Sea, including territories that are also being claimed by the Philippines. “I am inutile, and I am willing to admit it. I am really inutile. I cannot do anything,” the President said in his fifth State of the Nation Address Monday.
"China is claiming it, we are claiming it. China has the arms. We do not have it so it’s simple as that. They are in possession of the property, so what can we do? We have to go to war, and I cannot afford it. Maybe some other President can, but I cannot," he added. In taking the cudgels for ABS-CBN, Drilon stressed his "primordial concern" was the freedom of the press and the thousands of employees of the media gi-
ant who would lost their jobs. “The issue was freedom of the press. The Lopezes was just incidental. And the issue was that nobody will lost their job—the 11,000 employees of the ABS-CBN. That was what I had fought for,” said Drilon. A lawyer by profession, the opposition senator also said he had no debt of gratitude to the Lopezes. He also stressed he was no longer a part of the team from the law firm ACCRA, which helped an Ayala-owned firm win a water concession contract with the government.
