HE country is already dealing with the second wave of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)—and approaching a third wave—as health officials consider the first wave as the initial introduction of the virus by three Chinese nationals in January, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III told a Senate hearing Wednesday. Duque also told the senators that preparations were already underway to mitigate the possible next surge in the number of infections.

CLARK FREEPORT—Clark Development Corporation arrested two Chinese nationals and ordered the full lockdown of Fontana Leisure Park inside the Clark Freeport due to the illegal use of facility as treatment hub for Chinese patients with the deadly COVID-19. The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Regional Field Unit of the Philippine National Police Region III, the Food and Drug Administration, and CDC swooped down on a villa in Fontana last Tuesday, May 19.
