HONG KONG—Pro-democracy protesters retreated from Hong Kong’s airport on Wednesday following two days of hugely disruptive rallies that turned violent and plunged the global financial hub further into turmoil. SPEAKER Alan Peter Cayetano has named 22 deputy speakers—the highest number in history—and has included the President’s son, Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte, as one of them. On Tuesday night, the chamber announced the appointments of Representatives Deogracias Victor of Ilocos Sur, Vilma Santos of Batangas, Mujiv Hataman of Basilan and Michael Romero of 1-PACMAN, bringing to 22 the number of deputy speakers. THE Philippines has the highest dengue fatality rate in all of Asia with 720 deaths recorded from Jan. 1 to July 27, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said Wednesday. The 167,607 dengue cases reported during the same period was 98 percent more than the same period last year, he said.
