LAS VEGAS—Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao rolled back the years to become the oldest welterweight champion in boxing history with a thrilling split decision victory over WBA champion Keith Thurman on Saturday. The 40-year-old Pacquiao, 10 years older than the previously undefeated Thurman, delivered a vintage performance at the MGM Grand Garden Arena to leave the sell-out crowd of 14,356 roaring its approval. Pacquiao floored Thurman with an electrifying combination in the first round and remained on the front foot throughout a pulsating 12-round duel. Although the bloodied Thurman rallied in the later rounds to narrow Pacquiao’s lead, the judges scored it in the Filipino’s favor. Two judges scored it 115-112 for Pacquiao with the third scoring it 114-113 for Thurman. A jubilant Pacquiao punched the air as the arena erupted after the victory was confirmed. Next page

Duterte: 4th SONA launching pad House in make-or-break meet; term-sharing shaky Araja and Macon Ramos-Araneta for new game plan, war on crimes By Rio N.DARK horse may emerge as speaker of the House By MJ Blancaflor
PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte will use his fourth State of the Nation Address Monday to discuss his promises to fight corruption, illegal drugs, criminality and rebellion, as well as his views on the West Philippine Sea, the Palace said Sunday. The SONA will also be a venue to discuss the administration’s achievements and plans for the three remaining years in his term, Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said. “The past year has been meaningful
and we are all excited [about] what was prepared for tomorrow’s momentous event,” Panelo said in a statement. Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar also said that it was likely that President Duterte would mention in his speech the United Nations Human Rights Council resolution seeking a probe of alleged human rights violations in the government’s war on drugs. A Pulse Asia survey showed that wages, inflation, and jobs are among the top issues Filipinos want to hear from Duterte’s SONA this year. Next page
A
of Representatives after the President’s son, Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte, called an 8 a.m. breakfast meeting with almost 200 lawmakers hours before the first regular session of the 18th Congress opens today. “We have something to watch out for tomorrow,” said Albay Rep. Joey Salceda Sunday, suggesting that a termsharing agreement brokered by President Rodrigo Duterte between Taguig Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano and Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco might not hold.
“I would say Cayetano is still frontrunning. However, tomorrow morning, someone could come out to be a dark horse,” he said. “The President has already said that he would not mind if we would vote for someone [other than Cayetano],” Sal-
ceda said. “Definitely, whoever sits as the Speaker needs a direct line to the President. It seems that the clear line would be the son,” he added. zCayetano is expected to attend the meeting, Salceda said. “You just don’t call for a breakfast [meeting for nothing or] if you’re just getting to know them,” the Albay lawmaker said. The presidential son earlier hinted at a possible coup for the speakership, but Velasco said he believed Cayetano would prevail. He said he was confident that the leaders of various political parties in Congress would back Cayetano. Next page

The seizure came hours after a court in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar said it would extend by 30 days the detention of Grace 1, an Iranian
