After endorsing to the public the candidates he supports during a campaign rally in Bohol late Wednesday evening, the President said “the law of averages” worked against a sweep by his senatorial picks. But he again advised voters to “think hard” before supporting opposition candidates. “Think hard and sleep on it tonight. It’s just around the corner,” Duterte said after slamming the opposition Otso Diretso again in his speech. “Look at Otso Diretso. You’ve seen them and you know how they perform,” Duterte said, accusing the opposition of using black propaganda against his administration. He singled out former Interior secretary Manuel Roxas II for criticism. “I will not try to convince you that what he did is great. I will just share my sentiments about him. Duterte has found international infamy for his foul-mouthed tirades, but remains hugely popular among the Filipinos fed up with the country’s dysfunction and elite politicians. He has pledged to bring back capital punishment for drug-related crimes as part of a deadly crackdown on narcotics in which thousands of alleged pushers and users have already been

Palace clears Ho, Diaz from ‘matrix’ linkage By Nat Mariano MALACAÑANG on Friday cleared athlete Gretchen Ho and Olympian Hidilyn Diaz of any involvement in the alleged plot to oust President Rodrigo Duterte, blaming journalists for the “wrong analysis” of the diagrams. Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said “some media outfits” erred when they reported that both Ho and Diaz were implicated in the plot.

“No, the diagram only showed that Rodel Jayme is active on Facebook, showing who he follows and visualizing his character, persuasion, and political interests,” Panelo said Friday. “They were shown [in the diagram] but that doesn’t mean they’re involved,” he added. He said he would not apologize to Ho and Diaz, and said it was the journalists who should do so.
