Angat water level fast going down, PAGASA warns By Rio N. Araja THE weather bureau said Sunday that the Angat Dam, which supplies 97 percent of Metro Manila’s water, may hit its critical level by end of April. Danilo Flores, a hydrologist at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, said the water level at Angat Dam in Bulacan is projected to go down to its lowest level as the El Niño phenomenon is likely to stay until August. “We have been estimating how fast the water level [at Angat Dam] is going down until end of April. It [elevation] is expected to reach its critical level,” he said. As of Sunday, the water level at the dam dipped to 195.91 meters from its normal high water level of 212 meters. Next page

Joma pits NPA vs. Rody

Riders unite vs new law on double plates SOME 120,000 motorcycle riders nationwide came together Sunday to show their outrage against the recently signed double-plate law that they claim is dangerous, discriminating and anti-poor. The riders slammed Republic Act 11235, or the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act of 2017 that was authored by Senator Richard Gordon and Senate Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III, and which was signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte last week. Gordon has reminded the Land Transportation Office to be careful in drafting the Implementing Rules and Regulations for RA 11235, even as reelectionist Senator JV Ejercito on Sunday “pacified” the motorcycle riders who have been complaining about the new law. The riders were relieved when Ejercito said the law would only be effective after the official issuance of the Implementing Rules and Regulations. RA 11235 aims to address the rising number of crimes perpetrated by motorcycle-riding gunmen by making their bikes more easily identifiable. The law orders the Land Transportation Office to issue bigger, reflectorized license plates that must be placed in front and in the back of the motorcycle. The plate numbers should be big enough to be readable even from 12 to Next page 15 meters away.

“I have learned… that the best way to frustrate Duterte’s scheme of fascist dictatorship, to puncture its arrogance and debunk the fake surrenders and fake encounters staged by the regime and its armed running dogs, is for the NPA to deliver more lethal blows on weak points of the enemy forces in the countryside,”

More solons vouch for ‘next Speaker’ By Rio N. Araja CALOOCAN City Rep. Edgar Erice on Sunday supported former Rep. Earlier, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, chairperson of the Hugpong Ng Pagbabago, endorsed Romualdez, who is seeking reelection in May, as the next Speaker. House Minority Leader and Quezon Rep.
