OLICE investigating the murder of Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe and his police escort, SPO1 Orlando Diaz, have released artists’ sketches of two suspects in the day-time attack that also left nine people wounded.

DOUBLE good news for 2019. Fuel prices are likely to go down by more than P1 per liter next week while power rates are also expected to go down in January. An industry source said the more than P1 per liter rollback was “for both products [gasoline and diesel].” “Reasons [of the rollback] are strengthening of the peso, oversupply concerns and US stock market,” the source said. At the same time, medicines for diabetes, high cholesterol, and hypertension will be cheaper starting January 1 when a provision in the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Law exempting such drugs from the value added tax takes effect.

In a Facebook post, the Department of Finance announced that starting on Tuesday, VAT will no longer be imposed on medicines prescribed for diabetes, high cholesterol, and hypertension. The Section 109 of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion law identifies the drugs and medicines exempted from VAT. Rody ends year with ‘very good’ rating—SWS By Nat Mariano MAJORITY of Filipinos remained satisfied with President Rodrigo Duterte’s performance, despite his many controversial pronouncements, the latest Social Weather Stations survey revealed on Friday, only three days to 2019. According to SWS, seven out of 10 Filipino adults were satisfied with the Chief Executive’s performance. The pollster recorded that 74 percent of Filipinos were satisfied, 11 percent of them undecided, while the remaining 15 percent expressed dissatisfaction over Duterte’s performance as the President. Compared to September 2018, Duterte’s gross satisfaction also rose by four points from 70 percent, gross undecided fell by three points from 14 percent, and gross dissatisfaction fell by a point from 16 percent, the SWS noted.
